| Post subject: | Kai-zine Interview Translated into English |
My co-worker in our Japan office was kind enough to tackle translating the Kai-zine article "Mutants In the Forest". I think he did a great job, and the translation has been posted over on the KT website. It's a great read! Enjoy! http://www.kai-zine.com/blog/2008/03/01 ... in-english |

This is great. I particularly like his comment on making the figures appear "loud" with as few colors as possible. Thanks Jason! |

Another great commment: "Even when I couldn’t sell, I forced myself to think I would be OK even if it was a lie." For entrepeneurs like myself, this kind of thinking hits home! |

The comment about current production levels prohibiting the level of complexity of the first Chaos paints was one of those "real world" reminders for me. Also the comments about the elderly generation of sofubi painters were salient. |

Great read. Knowing his limitations yet expecting the most from himself and the will to keep trying after some less than desired results really impresses me. I'm so glad he kept at it |

i was under the impression that 85% of their product inventory is for the US market? I now produce an average of 500-600 per month. The number of characters has increased and so has the number of overseas-limited products, which I consider a bonus and not included in my goal. |

Quote: conqueror Posted: Sat Mar 01, 2008 8:29 pm "The products are not high quality, but I am confident there is an atmosphere that only exists at Real Head." I was a little puzzled by that translation too. Regardless, it's great to hear what mori had to say. |

Thanks logang! It's interesting following Mori's creative process from the ground up. Any pictures of that first oni-head? "I couldn’t sell at all. In the first event in which I participated in 2004, I could only sell two figures." |
