Very cool! I always imagined M1GO being more in a factory-type place, that looks more like a big apartment!

Thanks for putting this up!

It's actually an old hotel, and it's starting to look like a pharaoh's tomb with all of the treasures that are accumulating there. ;p

Whoa, great analogy!

This band called the Dissimilars made an awesome song called Bury Me With My Record Collection a few years back... I wonder if those guys will be buried with their kaiju?

And then how long will it take before one of us defiles their tomb?

Thats kinda the reality of Jpn...a LOT of "factories"...are really small almost hole in the wall places at times...but there in the dark, are the guys who's been doin the work for 40+ years.
This applies to everything from toys to sword/knifemakers to ultra high end auto/aerospace parts as well.
You do what you can with the space that you have...but it's also why very large mass production just can't happen in Jpn.

There's the classic images of famous manga artists working out of a cramped apartment with 3 assistants furiously trying to make next weeks deadline.
Or the tiny 6 man "factory" that churns out ultra-precise parts that Toyota or Nissan goto for parts for All their cars etc

One of the main reasons I love M1 (besides the sculpts) is the amazing paint jobs they do. They have a knack for using bright metallic paint colors that I don't see often in other kaiju. Maybe someone like LASH could elaborate on this, but when watching the second clip painting the Godzilla, does he apply a clear pearl sheen to the figure? Is that how they get the colors to stand out so much? I mean I believe the V Colors they use already have a metallic sheen to them, but as I'm not a kaiju painter I must profess ignorance to the process.

not sure if it is a pearl sheen, but he definitely applies some sort of clear coat to both the zilla and the matango

Yeah, the clear coat he sprayed on the Goji was just gloss, I believe. You can see he mixes another paint with the clear coat for the Matango to give it a pearl effect. I'd have to watch again, but I think he mentioned that it was a light silver paint. I've got a mini-Matango that has that pearl-look and looking at it after seeing that it's pretty clearly a silver base...

That was very cool and looks like it was a fantastic experience...and that doesn't count the Goji and Matango one of a kinds!

I've heard some stories about how toxic v-color is...I have to wonder about the health of the artist working with that all the time...fun - yes, healthy - ?

Awesome video, and thanks for the virtual experience!!
