Every time I see this thing pop up somewhere I get interested in it for 5 seconds and then promptly forget all about it. Part of me likes it for the weird-o factor and the tangential Blobpus connection, but then the other part of me says it would look totally out of place in my collection and that money could be put to use on much "cooler" toys.

Oh, Mysterious Doguu... why couldn't you be in a more interesting color?

GID Doguu, be my dream-come-true...

Maybe the thinking was that the color is close to the earthenware of the surviving artifacts. The weathered stone treatment that Paul Kaiju gave it was definitely a visual improvement though. GID would work. Since it's not really kaiju, it might be sort of weird to do kaiju-style sprays and colorways on it, not that there's anything wrong with that. It's odd that something that looks like a museum repro would be done in vinyl at all, although I don't think this is the first time that's been done. I wonder if this will be a "sleeper" figure? There seems to be a lot of curiosity around it.

I like the unpainted brown. It's nice, simple and unobtrusive.

Beyond Blobpus, I've been fascinated with these things since learning about them way back in a college JP history course. I think it's cool to see a historical artifact mesh with modern vinyl, although I'm sure clay repros can be found in Japan as well.

Not at all cool. However, I'm resigned to the fact that they're doing the flipper thing with the "hottest" vinyls while still pricing everything else pretty fairly, given necessary profit margins. So at least for now, you're a heck of a lot better off getting Rainbow and RxH through Super7 whenever possible.

Believe me, in a better colorway, it's an awesome "curiosity" to any collection.

There are actually two of these guys out there. One was sold way back in January or February at a toy show (Superfestival 45?), and was apparently painted in a gunmetal finish. The mass release is in unpainted brown vinyl.
