I think the meatball might be somehow related to the Rehho? Or do the similarities end with the eye(s)?

In the World of Kaiju, hamburger eat you! If anyone is curious, the first three (Seablob, Yadoro (jellyfish thing) and Sabora (cactus)) are from the "Sekai no Kaiju" illustrated book. The cyclops meatball is from an original youkai series by Marmit. The name is 泥田坊, but I don't know what the correct reading is for that. Frankly, I'm a little confused as to the origin of Rehho. As is the case for Panshida, Minamimura Takashi is shown as the owner of the copyright. This suggests that it (like Panshida) is derived from an illustration in "Sekai no Kaiju" for which Minamimura-san was apparently an artist. So it would seem not to be an original Marmit sculpt. Even curiouser is Panshida, which, while taken from another illustration, was apparently named "Panshida" by Marmit. Shikaruna's website has a prototype sculpt for a very similar character, but it is instead credited to Nakaoka Toshiya (author of Sekai no Kaiju) and is called "Tank-attacking Space Kaiju." My guess is that Marmit sculpted Panshida based on a partial drawing in the book. So, who knows, really. One day I hope to track down a copy of the two Sekai no Kaiju books... then maybe we'll know for sure. |

I really regret passing on Rehho. Slept on it like 3 days too long and the POOF. He was no more. @akum6n: now that's what I call 'contributing'. Super thanks on the encyclopaedic wizardom. |
