![]() It's really fun to just google japanese characters sometimes and see where it leads you. Last night I googled anraku and it led me to a ton of bizarre japanese kaiju web blogs. Anyhow this figure intrigued me, does anyone know who/what it is/makes it? |

The toy is from Marmit's Parababies line. The character is Daimanji, from the Kamen Ninja Akakage show (is that right?). Wow, I've never seen this Parababy before. I thought I had seen all of the Akakage Parababies... guess not. Came across some clips from the Akakage show while looking this up. Man. I really want a DVD set of that series. Neat website. |

Thanks for the info as always Daniel! Yeah I didn't know it was a parababy, because it looked standard size to me. It's hard to tell from the pic. Still I would not have guessed Marmit. The entry looks to be from 2005 if that helps. |

I have always thought the Para Baby line was a tremendous missed opportunity for Marmi. If only they had worked harder to keep the proportions of the sculpts more unified - it would be a tremendous line to collect. I really like all the early Ultra Kaiju, but it seems like they couldn't keep it together. Anyone less think that? |

Absolutely. But then again, that's sorta always been the plague of Marmit, right? Inconsistency. There are some true gems in the Parababy line, like the gid King Caesar (King Shisa) or Moguera? Or pretty much any of the Godzilla sculpts? Great pieces whose sculpts blend soft, classic lines and Bandai-esque realism. But then, you have other pieces like their Rodan or Gigan, which certainly aren't bad, but don't really fit with other old-school-yet-realistic pieces in the line. |
