I just got an email stating Quote: Hi. The company "Pilot Ace" will be closed on Jan. 31th 2009. They are selling all of their stocks now. There's some translation loss happening. Can anyone confirm if Pilot Ace are goin out? |

Crap I wanted one of those cyclops guys also! Perhaps the company is just changing over to a different name? Didn't the new harryhausen line go under Beagle or something? C. |

Damn...and they were planning Kali as one of the upcoming Harryhausen monsters... The Harryhausen line was technically manufactured by Beagle...so, yeah, maybe it'll stick around. |

Who is Beagle? I understand when the figures were solicited it said Beagle/Pilot Ace? Anybody know? Maybe the licensing company for Pilot Ace? |

Well, there's been some discussion about this on CDX and TBDX. We *think* that this is the same Beagle who're making the 1/10 Mospeada Ride Armor (the "Masterpiece" Cyclones from Robotech: The New Generation for most of us USers). What their connection is to Pilot Ace, and how it came to be, is beyond us. |

Just got this message. Yes, PILOT ACE is going out of Business. but, the HARRY HAUSEN vinyls project is owned by BEAGLE. Pilot ace is just the part of this project. so, Beagle will take care of upcomming Harry Hausen Vinyls. |

It's been years since I've been to the Pilot Ace shop. As I recall, it was tiny and overpriced. It's also over there in Asakusabashi, so the location isn't the best. Probably would be better off if they were one stop over in Akihabara. Seems like the old school shops are dropping like flies. There are really only a handful left with a nice vintage selection. More and more companies (including Gargamel, etc) seem to be finding they're better without a physical store, since they can still sell online, at shows, etc. It's getting tough to justify the overhead of maintaining a store when so many consumers are accustomed to buying online. Even a shop like RxH seems to get more phone orders for new figures than walk-in customers. Anyway, for stuff like vintage toys, I'd much much rather shop in person, even if it costs a bit more than an online purchase. So keep supporting the good folks at Ichibanboshi, Jarinko, etc!! |
