I received a very sad email from Japan today - apparently Hiro Grim has died. I have no other details, but I wanted to pass along the information as I know there are more than a few fans on Skullbrain.

Hiro Grim created some of my favorite Kaiju inspired art work, and I always dreamed of having a piece of Hiro Grim art on my wall. You might be familiar with his work for Base Xero Xero, Charactics and of course SecretBase. Hiro designed the Toxic Phantom and Death Phantom suits, a 13th day bee and various shirts for SB. All amazing, and some of my personal favorites.

As the email said this is a sad day.

Of course I didn't know the guy, but I love what he did with the cyborg suits. He left a mark on many collections and his memory will live on.

Oh man that's sad news.
I actually bought pencil fight issue 3 a few weeks ago to read his interview.
Truely a talented artist, and one I always looked forward to seeing more of.

That is really unfortunate news. I wonder if this is why he didn't seem to produce much new work over the past year.

His Charactics header artwork on the Biollante and Walder toys is nothing short of amazing.

just found out.... I'm at a loss for words right now. He was truly one of my early inspirations and artists I emulated in the kaiju scene. Godspeed home HiroGrim

Ugh...sucks...such a loss.

I always found myself staring at his header art more than the toys.
