Hey SB Baseheads, two questions about the same item: Skullbrain, pink base with purple spray. DELETED. Second, does anyone have a decent photo--my photo is the thumbnail from the Mook. Thanks, |

I don't understand the hate on run numbers, SB used to list them on numerous pieces. I know its lame to hear people ask all the time but really, it just gets holier than thou it seems. |

my lash smoking star print says 4/5 in the corner. damn you lash for making my print all about the numbers! it's weird how some stuff comes out with the run number out there for everyone to see, and some stuff is just like "this toy comes out on this date, buy it until its gone..." i understand if you want to know the production run size to weigh in your chances of finding a specific piece, which i'm guessing (or hoping) the man from the future is getting at. but when it comes down to people selling stuff for high end prices and putting "only 5 of them in the world!" somewhere in the sales pitch is when i get a little annoyed. but not as annoyed as when i walk into a some store, lets say wal-mart, and i see, i don't know, a die-cast nascar 1:16th scale car with this big chrome sticker on the package with bold letters saying LIMITED EDITION! #_____/50,000 camped on a shelf with about 100+ others. now that is annoying! |

I think it's a bit of a myth that companies don't reveal production numbers. Mori has told me before, and just last week I was talking to the Yamazakura guy about how many of his toys were getting made. When you get to the table at a festival and they've all sold out it is good to know how many are in flippers hands- it gives you a better idea of how much to pay when they start popping up at auction. In some ways the numbers are meaningless anyway. With Real Head, Bemon, and I'm sure others, toys are given as gifts to friends. Also there would be rejects in runs, and with older figures who would remember anyway? My personal feeling is that SB stopped giving out edition sizes for most figures because the run sizes were so big. It could have screwed up their 'limited' toy reputation. |

Mutonismyfriend wrote: Answer: Best Skullbrain ever. Best neo-kaiju toy ever! I think they made 2. I had both but sold one recently. Ohhhh, nice! It really is a sexy-ass Skullbrain. Actually, the reason I originally raised the taboo question was to get a sense as to whether this was a piece that was realistically obtainable. I know, I know, I could have just posted it on my Wants List... |

No . . . it's more like a really flat matte paint that gives a similar look to flocked without the inherent problems of flocking. This and the Warp Brain show the creativity and quality of finishing that makes early SB so awesome . . . |

Best paint job by far imo. The matte spray gives it such a great look. How do all those bootlegs look in comparison anyway |
