Is this a new release? Is it legit? I never seen an unpainted green before.
If it's been around, I'm surprised that I have never heard of it/ seen it until now. plus it's selling for so cheap.

It's cheap because it's a Shinto-san. And no one loves him.

Maybe its legit..reminds me of those devil dogs that was sold unpainted. Although I never seen this when the painted was released...

I'm assuming LEGIT because, though KT can be shady on flipping, I've never seen any customs or bootlegs for sale there. I'm curious about the Chaos?!? I've never seen a gold mist Chaos MAN.

I was wondering about that myself. I always liked the Gold Mist releases.

yeah...that's what got me about this. just never having seen it before after all this time. And I remember at first, ppl were very curious about them. I thought the only unpainteds were the black, flesh, red, yellow. I'm hoping someone close to the source can vouch for it.

KT flips sometimes, but bootleg/customs--never in all my experience with them. see? this is why I'm so curious. ...and it could be that someone stripped on and repackaged it, but why sell it to KT? I mean, they're making some kind of profit at just 5500yen. you would make a little more money if you kept the paint on as it was a limited release I think.

There seem to be a lot of RxH releases that fly under the radar. I highly doubt K-T would knowingly sell a bootleg/custom. And even if they did not know a toy's origins, they are certainly well-connected enough to check.

Post subject:  Re: what's the story?

that's a good point. when I placed the order, I asked KT for any background info they could provide. If they have anything for me, I'll be sure to let everyone know here.

fingers crossed. I wish Mori would occasionally pump out the unpainted shintosans like before. there are a lot of really great vinyl colors in the RxH universe these days. Shinto really rocks unpainted. This green one has rekindled my interest and now my OCDness will be satisfied (temporarily) to have 5 unpainteds to start a new shelf.

A few of those gold mist Chaosman figures have been released....but a while ago.

Well if it's a boot, which I doubt, someone went to the trouble to get the right kind of green eyes.

It always surprised me that the early "secret Green" wasn't popular despite its rarity. Approx 10-13 issued per the Mook. I guess there really are only about three of us that liked that sculpt enough to collect it.

I've seen that one selling for under 3000 yen loose. :\ Go figure.

Hey, a K-T question from a guy who's a bit out of touch. I haven't bought anything there since the site makeover. It looks like they no longer have the "marking service." Is that true?

akum6n thanks for the info. I've never seen it before checking this thread, but that's my fault for straying I guess.

Yeah, they don't have the marking service on their new website.

I meant the painted secret green Shinto was selling for 3000 yen, not this one. I've never seen this one before. Still- what a steal.

Thanks for everyone's two cents.

Shintosan is like a blessing in disguise from the RxH gods. I think it's such a cool sculpt, but not many people like it which makes it easy to get all the colorways you want--even the rare ones it seems. I didn't know that the secret green painted version was less-than-20-limited. If this no-paint is legit, then I doubt there are many more. I don't collect for rarity, but it's pretty awesome to get a "gem" dirt cheap.

When it comes in, I'll break out the magnifying glass and take a closer look. I'm still not 100% about it.

Dean!!! yo! :) ha, I knew you'd be drawn to the shinto thread. good to see you.

Awesome that you snagged it. I considered it early in the AM seeing that the green one is the best and this color is great, and than I thought "maybe I'll order it for Vombie and if he doesn't want it keep it" since you're the biggest Shintosan fan I know. It's cool you got in, though, great score!

Post subject:  Re: what's the story?

Hey vombie! Thanks, always good to see you around too. Yeah I guess popping in here was predictable but I've been having grief issues over not buying the last two Shinto releases. Man, if you look the other way for a moment in the RxH world, you miss a LOT!

I just realized that I sort of misspoke earlier and should correct that. I don't think the secret green is even in the Mook at all. I'd been told that it was a very limited release when I bought it at S7 and later took the Mook's "10 - 13" estimation for limited RxH releases to be the case with this one, but I don't actually know the run number.

Post subject:  Re: what's the story?

When you guys refer to this being a bootleg do you mean someone has re-molded the figure and cast it in green or taken acetone and removed the paint?

Author:  Dean [ Wed Aug 12, 2009 6:13 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: what's the story?

I don't think it's a boot but it would almost certainly be the latter, if so. It's the same bright green vinyl as was used for the secret green, so conceivably someone could replace the secret green's yellow doll eyes with green ones and strip the figure of its white spray and hope that someone would fall for it being a one-off or otherwise super-rare issue. However in that case I really doubt if it would end up at K-T for such a low price. What's strange is that nobody seems to know anything about its release. Or maybe they're just not talking, which would not be so strange. :)

OK, so I got it this morning...

I checked the header card; the staples, the holes, scratches--anything that might have been a dead give-away that someone tampered with it.

I didn't find anything...so I guess I don't have any other clues. the bag looked old enough and like a pointy toy has been in it for some time.

I guess I have no reason to think it should be a fake at this point.

I asked someone close to the source, so I will let everyone know if I hear anything that confirms it.
