I have seen a Bullmask edition also. I know the Pinwheel comes with a Wheelbarrow head and the Gargamess is packed by itself. I am not sure where or when the Bullmask was released but it is the same light blue un-painted color.

The Bullmask or Gargamess came with the others head so you could switch them, I cant remember which head was loose but you got the one body with 2 heads in the rakugaki bag.

OK, I searched SB and googled first. So why are these called Rakugaki?

Your talking about these blue figures, no?

Yes..I'm referring to the light blue gargamel toys. I'm not sure what the literal translation is but rakugaki are usually intended for painting on.

I don't paint or paint over things but was just wondering how many light blue versions have been released.

(The tetran and beralgon were just released today)

Rakugaki means graffiti or doodling. I've seen other toy companies release rakugaki versions, but there's usually some sort of doodling on the figure.

I wonder if there is any relationship of the term to Raku style pottery? I made some of this in a college class. It's cool because you heat up the glaze to the temperature where it turns to glass and then immediately remove the item from the kiln red-hot and put it in a hole in the ground, dumping sawdust or shredded newspaper on it. The flammable stuff starts to smoke, and you slam a lid down on the whole thing to trap the smoke. The smoke fills in tiny cracks made by the rapid cooling of the glaze. Some people also push horse tail hairs into the glaze which makes crazy patterns. Either way, you get interesting surface patterns in the otherwise plain glaze.

There's a light blue pocket smogun too. Not sure when it came out so I don't know if counts as a release.

The graffiti reference is correct. That is what they call graffiti in Japan. I have a book on Japanese graffiti. I forgot about that and it just now clicked. I have the gargamess but it didn't come with a bullmask head. The search continues.

Such a great shade of vinyl, I'd love to see some pics. Anything new and blue in the world since '09?

Maybe that crouching Mibora that Rotofugi released...not sure if it was after '09 or the same color vinyl. I think it is...

I think I finally have the full set of IKB style minis in blank blue 8) I'll post a pic tomorrow, just posting to the thread to mark it.

I can't update the list in the first post but should it include the blue bwana figures from this year's LBs?
