Can anyone clue me in on the exact meaning of patchi and zoki? My understanding of patchi is patchy at best...hey that came out funny, totally unintentional. |

And 'Pachi" comes from 'Patchwork' afaik. I think it came about from people swapping parts to make new monsters (eg, idunno, a Baragon head on a Godzilla body) and may originally have been another way for people to get around the licensing. Then you had people customizing sculpts - actually making a whole new head for example. Whatever, it's basically come to mean 'original' kaiju these days, though the bootleg is an important part of that genre. |

I'm probably wrong, but I always thought patchi meant "made up monster", or basically something that did NOT come from godzilla, ultraman, ultra q, toho etc etc. Maybe a cruder form of some sort? |
