Whatever you do, do NOT show this toy to your children ...
... because they WILL WANT ONE!

Not sure if this really belongs under 'Japan Toys' as they're actually Chinese bootlegs,
but some astute Japanese company has been importing them
& they debuted at last Spring's Pachikaiju Summit.
I resisted then, but by December I had to have one.

Anyway, this - "Happy Drummer Cat"
(note: this is definitely not Bandai's Doraemon robot)
was my favorite new toy of 2009 ...

And, after watching these short vids, I'm pretty sure you are going to want one too :( :

It talks (well, it sings & plays):

OMG, IT EVEN WALKS! :

(BTW, there are also Teletubbies versions, a ridiculous 'Transformer'-type robot
with Thomas The Tank Engine's face, and a 'Gundam'
with psychedelic flashing lights and a huge spinning propellor on the front.)

The transforming Thomas the Tank Engine was my absolute favorite thing at Pachi.

Stu or Don,
Do either of you remember the name of the company that brought these to Winter Pachi?

Post subject:  Re: Happy Drummer Cat

I didn't remember when I made the above post actually,
so I asked someone else.

Also, I'm not sure if this 'company' really wants to be advertised
(those are some pretty big franchises they're messing with)
so I'm not going to post the info here.

However I will PM it to you.
If you want to know, drop me a line.
Just FYI though, there doesn't appear to be a website,
and the name didn't bring anything up on YJA either.

If it's the same Thomas KO that started appearing in the middle of last year:

I finally found one of these through ratuken. They are pretty big and really bizarre. This is the "female" version.

Still works well. But SUPER annoying....and mesmerizing.

Why is he "happy"? Does he actually have a smile, I can't tell in the pics. Is it just "one of those things".....
