i can say i'll "try" for someone at the s7 booth since ramos said there are no limits but unfortunatley i'd need you money up front to take with me since i don't even have enough in my own budget for all the goods i'm looking to score. i'm working the con part time too and will not be able to stand in lines for hours on end each day so it is really hit or miss. i cannot promise i'll walk away with whatever you want but i can try and refund your cash if it is a no go. i will deem this the "shittiest offer ever" but if someone wants to take me up on it...get in touch. |

Well, I don't think last year's SB figures sold out at the con. In fact, I was there last year but passed on the ghostfighter. Later, when I decided I wanted it, I bought it online after the fact. Now, some of the other figures did sell out, I believe. Like the Marusan Godzilla. |

On the last day of the con last year I bought the 2 GF's offered up there, w/ out knowing shit about SB, just knowing I liked them. After the fact I thought about it and there was a shit load of SB at the TT booth and at Pusheads booth and I walked right past them all. This year will be impossible to get any SB outside of the Con for non flipped prices. Someone Pm me please for a Hook up. |

I. Hate. Chase. Figures. SB already has us by the short-and-curlies - throwing a chase figure into the mix is just. . .well, it just pisses me off. At $60 a toss, I'm *not* going to ring to bell multiple times to try for a variant colorway. Price it at $200, $300 for all I care, but make it available at a fixed price, in a fixed volume, until it is *gone*. Just don't play these damned chump blind assortment games. For the very first time, I feel like I'm being played by SB - and by S7 by association. Not a good feeling. |

I'm pretty happy that I probably like the non chase color (on the spirit GF) better for a change, the chase still looks pretty good though. |

Yeah and SB prices weren't through the roof on a lot of the stuff either last year like they are this year. I am with Z on this - this year you will have a harder time getting the SB you want. Case in point - the just released Blue plush Skull Brain. Flynn said they ordered the same amount they usually do and BAM! gone in record time. Now a SB Con exclusive? With a known run number? Pucker up butter cup this is gonna hurt! |

I assumed 'SDCC' versions were made to make money to be able to attend the conference. So regardless of how they sell them, the money is made. |

Sorry bobc, at least you got to use the phrase "short and curlies" on a post. We just wanted to add some mystery to the releases. I also think this will help ward off them "flippers". bobc wrote: I. Thanks, Ramos. I've always felt that using oblique, clever language was its own reward. SET SOAPBOX MODE=ON And I'll echo the sentiment that the "standard" figure is the one I like - odds are it'll be in broad circulation in sufficient volume to afford me the chance to snag it afterward. But if you were interested in combating the "flippers", here are a few other strategies that would work:
1. For each standard sold, the purchaser goes into a raffle. n-number of names are drawn and they get the chance to buy the chase. Don't answer your "you can buy a chase" email? Draw the next name. 2. Sell them on the very last day of the show, and then only to people who had visited the booth (or affiliate booths) and had some sort of "passport" stamped. 3. Sell them during random minutes that are multiples of "13" (13,26,39,52). Whoever is on line at the time can buy one. 4. Sell "sponsorships" - if a reader helps sponsor you to go to SDCC (whether through a donation, helping out, whatever) they are eligible to buy one. 5. Make them available to subscribers (grins)
The premise is that you'll sell all available stock of both the standard and chase figure at the show, so the full inventory of both SKUs will be in circulation later in some unknown proportion. Yes, it is good for the secondary market, and yes, it stimulates the Pavlovian reflex of every fanboy to take a chance. But blind assortment chase figures just seems so. . .well. . .unfair. Like life. SET SOAPBOX MODE=OFF Sorry for bothering ya'll. I'm just bitter that I'll miss SDCC, I guess. bob |
