Argh! The two Figure Arts sets retailed for only 4,370 yen (I think)... and now seem to be going for no less than 15,000 per

I know that it's the way of the world and all, but it's pretty enraging that folk can just walk up, drop some thin dimes and then quadruple the price the very same day. All of these new releases are so wonderful looking and would make me happy for years to come. Instead? A handful of asshats get to pay their rent with them. Genuinely depressing.

Folded all those pics in on page 7 last week, but it's nice to see 'em nice and big here.
Whoops, thought the front page had the conclusive database of images...
No worries. Lixx has the alphabetical thing going up front, and I've been maintaining a shadow DB - based around the licences - on page 7:

TSUBURAYA Productions
TOHO, MUSHI, TBS and original creations
Prehistoric Beasties

Personally a sucker for Red King. It's a bit smaller then the original release but still very cute.

Deevis! Your face is gone! What happened?
Didn't recognize you there! Agreed Bryce, it's nice to see the toys that were in standard size, reinterpreted in small cute size (must keep away from large kittees! ) <--assuming I can afford to buy a set

The Red King is very cute, but I think the little red Pigmon wins first prize in this cute contest.

All three of those releases are spectacular. The new face on the Red King is great. I really like the blue Seabozu too.

I think aftermarket prices will drop it's just a matter of time. There seems to be no shortage of available sets, it's just a matter of waiting it out.

The painted mini set, I think, is going to see an online release in May.

I can never remember what thread or page this old post is on, so I figured I'd just bring it over here now that I've dug it out again:Post and magazine from 2009 - Kaizine #11. Thanks again, Revolux!

I'll fold the pages in to the Paper Trail section once I finally get around to building it.

Now... anyone care to help with a translation? :?

I updated the database with a pic of actual Yellow Redking with a blue chest stripe. Don't think it ever was a regular release but I could be wrong. Perhaps they were just for the Gargamell x Butanohana event years ago. I need to fill in some gaps on the first page as I have the pics of newer releases I'm just being a little lazy.

^ Feel free to pilfer from page 7; I'm all caught up! :P

Good eye on that RK variant! As many times as I've looked at that pic I never noticed the difference in the spray.

I think I probably just drove any Butanohana completist to an early grave. I noticed years ago but just figured the initial release (OG Red King) came in two variants: blue stripe and green stripe. Now I'm thinking maybe just for that show?

^I noticed it a while back too, but isn't that a cream RK with yellow and blue paint... Probably for display only?

Post subject:  Re: Butanohana Database- a visual guide

Those cases were filled with all sorts of protos and test sprays, so I think it's a safe bet that ol' bluie was NFS. Every pic that I've seen of his table and display at festivals from when the toy was new only featured ones with the green stripe, and those recent pics of his public studio - the ones where he has every toy that he's ever made! - only have the two versions we know about in them.

Good point, Masa - The blue-havers do look like they're probably on creme vinyl, with the yellow being spray.

Yeah Kuolio you're right they are on cream vinyl. I was about to say mystery solved because it almost looked like the Hawaiian Red Red King is on the same cream vinyl and they were released at the same show these Blue striped Red Kings. But I grabbed my Red Red King and he's on a flesh vinyl rather than cream. I'm going with NFS test toys.

What's the story on that and the other Buta/Medicom release?
Never seen them team up before.

The black King Joe was a Medicom exclusive also. Absolutely cant wait for this guy, feel like I've been waiting forever for Butanohana to do a Goji release in these colours.

My bad. Interesting.
So was the King Joe, and these, pure Buta releases, just pushed and sold by Medicom?

?

It's difficult to imagine that the family would be farming out any step in the production - I've been told that Mr. Oohashi likes to do everything himself, right down to the stapling of the headers to the bags. That said, all I know about this release is what was mentioned on the Medicom site.

What a beauty, eh?

This will surely have to be their biggest run by far!

I can't imagine the drudgery of painting so many Gojis, but I'm super thankful. It's a fantastic figure with an equally wonderful tribute color way.

I think he means the other releases on these vinyl wars series.

Happy New Year everyone! :) I just missed this cutie...

Image

He doesn't seem to be described in the database, or shown in the Titanus section photos...
This is Daniel's photo I think:
Image
and the listed species are:
Flesh vinyl / light red, blue and green paint
Turquoise vinyl / red, blue, green and gold paint
Pink vinyl / red, yellow and silver paint
GID yellow vinyl / green, red and silver paint (Grumble Toy excl., ltd. 20 sets)
GID yellow vinyl, unpainted (Grumble Toy excl., ltd. 10 sets)

So is this wooly and wild yellow base with brown, red, and blue a totally new paint or a special version? He looks to be an old bird, so maybe a limited show version, or a "gift" version? Help please! :P
