The name escapes me but its a website that sells mostly Kaiju figures, ultraman, godzilla, stuff like that and obscure off-brand japanese toys. The thing about this site is it has an all-japanese version of the site and an english version. thats kind of what sets it apart. Anyway, Im getting into YJA again and that site was really helpful because it had all the kanji for those figures and made them a lot easier to look up on YJA. If that site sounds familiar to anyone, lemme know. I remember it had a yellow background on the homepage with some monsters sitting around a table drinking, I believe. |

To be clear, I'm not trying to patronize but I went ahead and found the characters for what you mentioned in your OP. Tokusatsu (特撮) Tokusatsu Toys (特撮トイ) Kaiju (怪獣) Ultraman (ウルトラマン) Godzilla (ゴジラ) You can just use wiki for a lot of the big stuff. Please do not misunderstand - I am not a Japanese speaker but I will help if I can. There are a handful of Firefox extensions out there that allow for Google machine translation on the fly. I believe Chrome also supports a version of machine translation natively. I just open two tabs (one translated, one normal) and browse that way. |

Yes, I would recommend the Rikaichan add-on (it's free). Google translate is also okay at times. Just be careful with using translated versions of pages, as it can sometimes mess up links. |

Not to be that guy, but kanji refers specifically to the Chinese characters adopted in the Japanese writing system (e.g., Hukkokudo's name). I don't know how people started referring to all Japanese characters as kanji, but it's not correct. You can just say- correctly- that these are the Japanese characters for each company's name. |

Not sure if this is maintained by a SB member but I often rely on this web page as a resource for YJA searches: http://www.coreyshead.com/yahoojp.html |

Or you can take the easy way out and install google translate into your bookmarks bar like I do. I have it set where all I have to do is type in the english word and it gives me the japanese characters (or vice versa). Cut n paste in to YJA search and there you go. I save all my searches and give them their own folder in bookmarks. For years I kept thinking "Why doesn't the google translate page give me japanese characters to use?"...well apparently now they do! http://translate.google.com/translate_tools scroll to the bottom about 5th down on left side, drag "english" to your bookmarks bar. |
