Harajuku is normally the domain of the teen fashion victims of Tokyo.
The hangout of the Gothic Lolitas, where every second boy is wearing a
Bathing Ape T-shirt and the lines outside some of the clothing stores
make the line at Wonder Festival look weak.
It is also home to Secret Base and Bounty Hunter of course,
but they lie hidden somewhere in the maze of boutique-lined streets.
One such boutique is Asanoha. It lies just off the main drag,
but that didn't stop me spending a good hour looking for it.
If I got my facts right, the owner is mushroom-obsessed artist & kaiju-fan Katope.
His friendship with Gargamel's Chanmen led to their collaboration
on Katope's first toy project the 'Tori-jizou', and this exhibition.
Here is some stuff:

Some Hedorans being cute.

The as yet unreleased Hedoran 1 sculpt (actually much shinier than it looks here)
with Katope's take on a Zag in the background.
One of the few GID Zags Frank didn't actually fuck up.
And a Zag portrait by Chanmen.

The reason I went (thumb shown for scale).
Doragamel, a new sculpt by Tim Biskup, which will apparently first see the light of day in Germany
due to Biskup's allegedly punishing schedule. (Thanks a bunch Tim!)
And Katope's Tori-jizou (glow in the dark version released this week, whoopee).

That's all folks!
:)

Yeah, exactly. Why couldn't they all have been like this?

Thanx Loco!
Some of those pix on p1 must've been the opening nite party.
And there are more paintings there than I saw, I'm pretty sure.
Perhaps they had to put some stuff away to make room for the toys.
Don't think anything's for sale though anyway...
