Post subject: | Popy Getter Dragon question |
Hi, I found a Popy Getter Dragon like this guy: ![]() http://www.collectiondx.com/node/1305 at a comic con. It was not neerly in the condition of this one in the pic. It didn't have it's ax, and the stickers weren't in the best shape. It was however the original popy version and not the north American issue of it. I know that this guy is the most common of the Jumbos to find, but was I nutz for passing it up? Anyone know a going rate for a not complete version of this guy. I found this one on Yahoo HK auctions and the guy is trying to sell it for the equivalent of over $300US. http://hk.f2.page.auctions.yahoo.com/hk/auction/b6906887 It seems kinda steep for that condition. The one I found was in better shape than that one. Thanks for the help! |

I would say $300ish is around fair to cheap for that condition... but I am somewhat of a newb in the world of jumbo machinders... you can easily find missing parts/played with/thrased ones for under $100 I found this dude on the bay for 10 fucking bucks! he's missing lots and in highly battle damaged... but awesome! ![]() |

I cannot properly articulate te exact differences between the popy japan edition and US shogun warrior edition of Getta Dragun, but I think the prices are pretty similar. The early version with the rorating saw blades, all the stickers, all three axes and all dozen shooting stars are about $150-175, anything less than 100% complete and the price starts to fall rather dramatically. The Getta Dragun, Great Mazinger, Gaiking, Godzilla and Reideen are pretty affordable for the Shogun versions (all made by Popy and imported by Mattel), only Daimos is a little more expensive. |

Great, thanks for the info. I didn't realize that Mattel was only importing them and not manufacturing the US versions themselves. I had assumed there would be there stamp all over it. The guy I found wasn't in great shape, the price was very low but I think I made the right decision to pass on it for now. It was fun to find the guy mixed into a sea of old GI Jo and Star Wars toys. |

I thought the US ones had a different box and stickers, but the toys where the same? |

the toys were all modified slightly when they imported them, not so much on the first editions, but they got pregressively cheaper and cheaper as time went on, especially mazinga. |
