Post subject:  Donald & Frog from waaay back

I found these at a antique shop while on vacation a couple months ago. I'm thinking both will become custom fodder. (unless somebody tells me that Donald is worth a million bucks) They are both "squeakers," but have since lost their squeak. I'm really diggin the frog. The sentimental asshole side of me almost wants to leave him as-is, because he's got character. Does anyone have any input on either of these?

I've never seen it, but recognized the froggie from "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" at Disneyland.

Is that who it's supposed to be? Colors are off, figure has 4 fingers instead of 3, no hat, etc. I thought maybe this was a more generic fig. (maybe more like "ripoff") Even way back Disney still had their name slapped on everything usually. Hmm...is that record from '55 or before?

there is some info about the film here

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041094/

looks like originally it came out in 1949. the sleepy hollow portion was one of my favorite rentals at the video store when i was a kid, and i bought the re-issued version on DVD about a year ago. Classic stuff...really, really great.

i think your toy is Mr Toad, but I'm not sure it's the disney Mr Toad. it might have been released as a tie in to a "Wind in the Willows" set.
it's great to see all of these historical references come out in toy form though.

hmm.... hard to say exactly what it is, my guy has no shoes, leads me even more to believe that maybe he's a knockoff.

arms, legs, head move, I guess you call it 5 points of articulation, one for each limb?
