gabbagabba wrote: I believe it's made by Marusan. I've been known to be wrong. Anybody have some info? ![]() There was a repro done a good while back I want to say its names Basu(I could be wayyyy off) or something, I only know this because of seeing it on ebay for a good long while. The repro is Marusan, you can email marusan-usa.com they will email you back pretty quick if no one answers here. |

Yeah, I've seen that repro. it looks like there might be a Marusan logo on the foot of this vintage one but it's too hard to tell from the picture. Thanks for the info. I'll send them an email and see if they can help. |

gabba, did you win that one (or that other patchi kaiju dude)? I found those but saw you were bidding...sweet figures. |

This Kaiju is from an era when marusan lost it's license to do Tsubaraya Kaiju so they made up their own. I have the repro, great monster. Weird leg stance but totally classic. Big rocky head. |

I went a little higher than I wanted on the other one but I've been looking for a while and got impatient. Paul - I thought this was probably from the originals line. Thanks for the confirmation. I love how crude the sculpt is on this guy. |

Since the pic by the OP is down, thought I post these up for references. Guess this is the original Marusan Vera? If so, were there any other versions? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, there was a secret note inside. Tried my best to rewrite it since it's a bit hard to read. Can anyone translate it? ![]() ![]() |

Wow Joe, nice find, but that note is creepy as hell. Checking your transcription against the original note, I think it says: 父母 ゆるして下さい そして さようなら 12月3日 "Father and Mother, please forgive me. And now, goodbye. December 3rd." Eek. Btw, this seems to be a color variant that I have not seen before. The ones that I have seen usually look like the repro. |

Just wondering too... Did you hear something rattling around inside or did you just happen to open it up and find the note? ...anyone else ever find a little secret something inside of a toy???? |

Wow great finds, the figure and the note. Especially around this spookiest time of year. I'm interested to know what made you decide to open the figure up too? |

At first I did hear something rattling inside but figured it was probably just loose flash. However, this was one dirty toy so I had to clean him up a bit. Popped the head open and found a folded up piece of corrugated cardboard. Maybe I shouldn't have... |

That was one dirty toy when I got it. You did a much better job of cleaning it up than I did. |

Mondo posted this a while ago, but I see that the images are gone: Original: ![]() Repros: ![]() This book has omitted paint variants and even certain sculpts of the vintage toys (missing one of Jim's giant size figures), so this is not exhaustive of the lineup. EDIT: Larger page removed, smaller images of Bera versions posted. |
