Sorry, I picked this up at the Chelsea Flea Market in NYC a few weeks ago for $40. Thought it was cool bootleg, just wondering who its supposed to be, also age, etc. Any help appreciated for a vintage kajiu cripple...thanks!

Dude, when I was in middle school they would call me old man hands. Then in high school I worked at Taco Bell and this old couple freaked out and asked if they could read my palms. They said I would be good in business. Man I am fucking trying!

It has a Tsuburaya Productions mark on it, if that helps.

I could read the name of the character on the foot if it was photographed at an angle. The black marks make it difficult to see.

Sure this is a bootleg?

Just something so that we can see the imprint more clearly- like a rubbing of the foot. Well, someone may be able to ID it before then. I'm far from the best at the older characters...

Here's your answer...

That's a figure of "Jumbo X" the "test" version of a superhero that had a limited-run manga in the Shogakukan children's monthlies. The character was later retooled and became the more familiar "Jumborg Ace."

Right on, August! I knew one of the smart folks around here would figure it out first.

Here's the toy you have...

So... I guess it is legit. Tatsuya Saitou says to please take good care of his childhood toy. :P

The artist was Mamoru Uchiyama (my favorite Ultraman mangaka), Uchiyama is still busy today, and recently illustrated the Ultraman Mebius manga for Shogakukan. The figure was produced by Bullmark ('natch).

wow, you guys rule! Thanks!

akum6n,
So that site, I put it through google translate, does that mean the vale is 450 Yen, about what I paid for, probably worth less cause that little pipsqueak Tatsuya wrote his name on it. I kid I kid..

Thanks guys!

It always blows my mind to see those old prices. What can $4.50 buy you today? A hamburger... maybe?

Altogether, that's a pretty enviable find! Nice!
Wish I knew more about the backgrounds, the media and could read Japanese, that's for certain.

Sorry...My first time to Japan was 2 years ago. Before Super 7 I had no clue what the english name of any friggen character was. I grew up in central florida. I had a shogun Warriors godzilla when I was a kid, that was pretty much my knowledge of japanese kaiju..word
