So I am really wondering what was up with this Keronia figure?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KERONIA-M1-Vinyl-Figure-Ultraman-Ultra-Kaiju-Sofubi-Toy-/130563689796?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6633cd44

I don't get the high price point for a fairly modern M1 figure. What is the story behind this, or was it just a massive bidding war? I mean, it is a totally awesome figure, but still pretty bizarre to me. I know it is just my own preference for collecting, but I would much rather spend those kind of dollars on a vintage figure.

I'm sure it was a blind bag release. (If I remember correctly)

Not many made. The figure was never actually officially released painted by M-1.

Except for this one. It's pretty rare, as lowball as M-1 figures go.

What floors me, if you think about it. M-1 has been around way longer than Bullmark existed.

With Club Tokyo as my source the only painted release of Keronia, at around 100 pieces, was part of a lucky bag in 2001.
http://www.clubtokyo.org/listings/itemL ... ntentID=41
It looked like this:
Image
Having scoured Y!J for it pretty regularly I've only managed to see it once, and it looked just as CTs photo does.
Judging from the paint-style on the eBay figure, I'd say it was just a decent custom that a couple dudes really wanted.

edit ---
I went and had a look at the sellers' other completed listings, and he must have bought somebody's collection as there were quite a few more M1s he offered and over half of them were obviously customs. CRAZY ending prices on most of them as well.

So did someone here grab these two Bullmark minis? I was trying for each, but they surpassed my spending ability. :( Would have loved to walk away with even one of them. Both very nice examples of excellent kaiju, and in very decent shape too from the look of it. I hope they found a nice home.

Wow. I'm slacking.
I would have definitely driven that up a bit.
Just when I think I've seen everything...

Ha, I've seen the toy before but I just recently scoured Toy Tokyo so that's probably where. I love all those suit-wearing m1 (ultraman?) villain toys.

So I didn't get in on the frenzy for this lot of jumbos, but seems to me that someone got a decent set. For a non-perfectionist like myself, even snagging those accessories is pretty sweet.

I had not, however, seen this particular Rodan before. I only knew of the Godzilla as part of the Shogun Warriors line. Anyone have any more info on him?

Someone here may have won this guy, so I thought I would throw it out there. Just wondering if anyone can identify this figure. The seller listed it as vintage, but I am not so sure about that. Looks like a RAH/Joe type body with a rubbery suit. I really like him anyways, but it ended at more than I could pay. Anyone know what he is from and the maker? (apologies in advance for the huge pics)

A really sweet 'Creature' or space alien in any case. Would have loved to have this guy on the shelf to battle it out with some other toys.

It's a figure from Muton and Henshin Cyborg, the Amaluk in Muton and Fishman in Henshin. The paint looks slightly different than the Muton version, I'm sure many different versions of the character have come out in the Henshin Cyborg galaxy. Not sure how old it is or what version this is.

Thanks Joe. I thought it might be a Henshin guy, but for some reason was thinking the scale was a bit off. Totally makes sense. Looks like this guy got a fair dose of accidental paint, might even be some customising, so that could explain the slight difference.

Since I am here, got to share this great lot of Mexican bootleg Mazinger figures that just ended:

Hollow rotocast

My point is that this "bootleg" is a recast.... what if someone were to make vinyl recast kougai?
At this comparative price point they would sell for the same as a legitimate release.
Is Lord Bemon amused?
Am I the only one who cares?
Bootleg NAGZ, here I come!

Bootlegs are always going to be out there somewhere. There's a dump truck full of kaws bootlegs out there (I know, not even the same damned sport), but I know I've seen plenty of KvP bootlegs show up on the ebizzle...

rotocast resin is actually really light weight. Probably would weigh about the same as a vinyl. I can see this turning into a Skullbrain mega argument very quickly. Fucked up, kind of, but at the same time, if you short run your toy and intentionally drive up hype this is a side effect.

All has been revealed... but for me, resin kougai just ain't the same.

This guy went for a pretty penny, not so surprising, but you usually don't see that kind of big guns bidding to often outside of YJA. Decent shape with almost no paint wear and just come scuffs. A really sweet figure of course, a killer Kikaida if ever there was one.

Simply put there is no better looking Kikaida than the Popy Kikaida 01. I was always on the fence about Kikaida till I saw this 01 version. I knew not to bother bidding for this one though as it was going to be an all out war. I mean really though is that not one good looking toy or what?
