I've searched and couldn't find any info about this so apologies if this has already been discussed in the past. I just picked up an awesome Astro Mu and while exploring the contents of the box I found a mini flexy record on clear blue vinyl. Does anyone know what's on the record (if there is anything at all, never seen flexys this small)?

I've always wondered myself! They come up lose on auctions every now again, along with other things my brain somehow blocks from my completist mentality. Slippers... padding pools...

You don't know anyone with a turn table?

Thanks, I do and I'm planning to check this out but I was wondering if anyone had heard one of these... I've actually just read this should contain the "Astro-Mu Five Theme". Really looking forward to hearing it :)

That appears to be a flexidisc or sonosheet. They are very common for 70s tokusatsu/kaiju shows, but due to their very thin nature, I wouldn't count on the sound being that great. What is more important is that the sleeves they came in usually had some amazing artwork. Here are just a few quick pulls off the interwebs (wait there is more at the bottom!)

My favourite (and sadly lost) blog Pink Tentacle has done some amazing coverage collecting these, of course with special note on Ultraman  , the best examples I saved for there and I would suggest taking a look.

The condition doesn't hold up so well always, and they are susceptible to 'creasing' being so thin, so I would be interested to see how yours sounds.

Wow, these are awesome!!
Thanks for posting these Ultra, beautiful artwork and design!!
Unfortunately the AM5 one came with no sleeve (at least not the one I have).
I totally agree on Pink Tentacle, great blog, I thought it was still going... Will dig into your link now, these seriously look great.
And I will update as soon as I manage to play the flexy... would be great to make an mp3 to share but not sure I'll be able to do that. Let's see.

Edit: ah man, the selection on PT is just mindblowing :) Thanks again!

I can make out on the disc the words "Ultra Action Boy" in small text at the top (maybe the name of the line of sonosheets?) and "Astro-Mu 5 Song" in larger text in the middle.

If anyone owns these and is comfortable loaning them out, I'd be more than happy to convert them to .mp3's then return a digital copy and the album to the owner (while retaining a digital copy for myself haha). Feel free to PM me if anyone is interested.

be weary of ever buying flexi discs- once they bend, they are messed up forever
