Post subject: | Vintage Mail Day |
A long time ago I thought the "what I got in the mail" thread sucked. I figured most pics would get lost in a sea of posts. While I've come around to it and realize it's there to get rid of clutter, I also think that a forum like Vintage might benefit with one of these. A lot harder to get lost here since there are not as many posts. So maybe we can turn this into a cool thread to geek out on vintage? Enough of me babbling here are some toys: First off really proud I scored this Kikaider 01 for a decent price. I've seen these go for absurd money. One day I hope to find the large version. Used Pixlr-o-matic because, well, it just looked cooler: Bullmark Triple Fighter. I thought he looked cool with light behind him, for once the yellowing of the clear vinyl added a nice effect to the photo: One thing both the Kikaida01 and the Triple Fighter had were standing issues. Vintage I notice you constantly have to hair dryer legs and spread em' to get toys to stand up, otherwise they lean over and fall. Astro Mu is addicting, unfortunately the auction did not show writing on the back- but still who's staring at a toy backside?: I'm obsessed with Kamen Rider lately. Here's a nice Popy version. There is also one with red gloves/boot out there. Pixlr-o-Matic: Another bootleg version of Ninja Arashi? Hard to tell because the head looks just like the Bandai version but the tunic is thicker vinyl and doesn't look like other pics I've seen. Someone weight in for me? Everyone: |

Great stuff Lixx. With the vintage it tends to trickle in more, so I can see why you've thrown a few together at once. The standing issue is something that I know well, as most of my favourites are the 15cm Popy-scale guys, and almost none of these are willing to stand on their own. |

Not that bummed about the writing Yeah I was watching that ebay auction too. I guessed 400 or so, guessed wrong. The large one just never seems to slip under anyones radar. Yeah I have a part 2 coming later today and a part 3 in a few weeks. Pretty much all scored cheaply. I'm definitely a bargain shopper. |

Here's part 2. So I tried to bid on a Bandai V1 on YJA buuuutttttttttttttt...my middleman could not because the seller blacklists deputy auction bids. So cro**** (my nemesis and many others I'm sure) won the auction for next to nothing at 9800 yen, which was a total steal. I said: "Fuck It I'm getting that V3 on the bay!" B-day present to myself! Really nice shape with mask, boots, belt, and scarf. Viva you're right V3 is pretty damn cool. |

Great idea for a thread! That Triple Fighter is by Bullmark and comes from a set of 5 which is actually up for sale in the S7 store: http://super7store.com/new-arrivals/tri ... r-set.html |

This may sound like the stupidest thing you've heard all week but I have a few old Marmit that do this so what I did was hairdryer them and then stick a super-bouncer ball between their feet for a week and then hairdryer them again at the end of the week. They've stayed fixed instead of warped ever since. |

Hmmm never thought about putting something in between to prevent what I call 'snap back' where years of being warped snap back into place even after resetting the legs. Kind of like a memory with a rechargeable battery. vintagevinyl wrote: wow, that V3 looks like its in amazing shape! Yeah I was pretty surprised when I got him. A few scuffs here and there but overall pretty nice. Especially the helmet. The owner told me he had it since he was a kid so I assume he took care of it. Mark K wrote: Great idea for a thread! I have all these japanese books but sometimes it's near impossible to figure out what's what because I always forget Japan reads right to left. Or at least that's how the books go. So is the larger removable mask Triple Fighter also by Bullmark or Bandai? So is the Ninja Arashi a bootleg then? Mini Kamen Rider is Popy? |

Ninja Arashi looks like the Bandai standard size version. It should be marked バンダイ on the foot. Not that familiar w/ the Kamen Rider series but if Popy it should be marked ポピー on the foot or butt. All the Triple Fighter toys, and there are a lot of them, were made by Bullmark: ブルマァク |

I think I probably bid against you on this AM mini, but glad you got it. There were actually two auctions for the same fig with 2 or 3 day difference but couldn't win!! Those green guys are very common. Most of villian minis came packaged with tanks, jumbos etc. so If you have any intention of getting the vehicles then maybe hold back on the common minis or you'll end up with doubles. Devil Bado is of course the exception, he only came packed with his own 'wave' tank. Axolotl wrote: I think I probably bid against you on this AM mini, but glad you got it. Yeah, the first auction was with a tank. Didn't know they are kinda common. Good to know, thanks. |

You are right your ninja arashi tunic is made of different material than mine. Does it have any writing on the feet? Great thread Lixx! |

Post subject: | Re: Vintage Mail Day |
Hmmm yeah survey says NO writing on the foot of the Ninja Arashi, so it must be a bootleg. Pretty good copy, although I think it might be shorter than the Bandai. Is your tunic more cloth organic? @ Axolotl- yeah I was wondering why that Astro Mu jumped to more than the one with the tank. It's all good though. I know I'm not the only one looking. |

^^Absolutely fantastic, Geekabilly! Not the easiest Marusan to come by...and I've always preferred this guy to the later Bullmark sculpt (though I'm certain I'm in the minority on that one!). Congrats! |

Not to take anything away from that wonderful Zaboga, but I absolutely worship the King Flasher standard from Flying Attack Human! Nice organic. |

That's an exceptionally clean example. It doesn't look like a 40 year old toy that just came out of the bag, instead it looks like a brand new toy. |
