That's actually just the activated accounts. We have something like 8,000 unactivated accounts due to spam signups.

Ha, I am sure I can probably account for some of those even, since it took me a coupla years to get activated too. (But then, could be I had always had the same username so it likely reset it all). I know David has a similar tale as well.

This is just the first time from that device. That way, if my username and password are compromised, and someone else tries to use them from Russia or wherever, they can't get pass the second step unless they also have my phone and can read the code google sends out.

The new forum software does not use your phone number exactly or send a text, because that kind of infrastructure would be kind of expensive. So it uses a different, but similar mechanism.

I have no plans to use it here.
