Post subject:  Welcome to Chi Town

Now that Rotofugi has become a Purveyor of Kaiju your city gets its own space on SkullBrain. This is the place for SkullBrainers in the Chicago area to talk about local goings on. For the rest of us this is a place to pick the brain of a collector that always seems a few steps ahead of the me: The_Z.

I am sure most will hate the forum name so make suggestions and I will change it. I went with the old school house reference because I don't know much about this Chicago. Look on the bright side I could have gone with Thrill Kill Kult!

Finally a big thank you to Zach for being the mod here.

haha, thanks Glenn!

I would just like to point out that I routinely decorated my papers in high school with TKK logos...

As long as it's not named "Chi-Town" some-thing or other (cringe) or makes any reference to any of our local sports franchises I'm a happy man. Big Black definitely rules, but I'll have to vote for Wilco as best Chicago-based band.

BTW, mad respect to S7 for making this happen. Words fail me.

Are other midwesterners welcome here? I'm in SW MO, but I have some friends in Chicago, if that helps...

Now if only Kirby or Brian would open up a shop someplace closer than an 8-to-30 hour drive away!! Thank goodness for the internets!! :)

I think the mods have final say (z?) but I'm prepared to hold it down for the midwest.

You in Springfield? I spent my teenage years just up the road from there.

lol...well if there are any big JP toy/art happenings in MO or other parts of the Midwest, I would say feel free to post them up in this forum. I am from WI but it's hard to argue against Chicago anchoring the Midwest.

Also, Chicago dogs rule...Chicago pizza is great too if you're in the mood for deep dish.

OK, please forgive me, I've never been to Chicago and am just checking out this new forum. But do you all REALLY eat dogs like this? Not saying it looks bad, it looks good, kinda. Just blows my mind a bit.

Yep...Chicago Dog = Everything and the kitchen sink!

It is awesome, trust me.

If any of you guys ever come to Chicago, stop by Hot Doug's. Some of the best hot dogs and gourmet sausages you'll ever get! They even have crazy sausages special's like rattlesnake, buffalo, etc. Check out their weekly specials at http://www.hotdougs.com

And for all of you non-meat eaters, they even have an amazing veggie dog that is highly recommended by my vegetarian friends.

Dougs is good but a tad 'lat-y-da' for me most the time. I like places that never change the grease traps and with sticky floors, flavor country!

Aw geez I can go on about food all night, I better stear clear of this thread my passion for Chi-town food will cause' endless rants.

 I like those places too, but I can't recommend those places to out-of-towners! I eat at some hot dog joints that would the scare the crap outta some people.

I'll take mine sans sport peppers, please. I do miss Lou Malnati's something fierce, though. I'd make the trip down from Brew Town just for that back in the day.
