Anyone going to stroll around Japantown for Cherry Blossom? It starts tomorrow 4/9 and goes til 4/17.

It's the same every year but it was nice to see a new booth this year. Also found a little takoyaki stand ($6 for 6 pieces) with no wait. The girl working the stand said she recognized me but I know she just wants my money :P

They all do :twisted:. I need to find a new drinking hole...but then it's kinda nice to walk into bars and have all the people behind the counter yell your name out. The thing is, I do know who she is and where she works but wasn't going to admit to it. If I did, she would ask why I haven't been to the bar in a long time and tell me I need to visit her (and buy her drinks). Sneaky, sneaky!!

Yes, girls can be like that :wink: That's only because you guys are so evasive! :P Why didn't you ask her out for an ice cream instead, or a nice yummy sweet crepe at Kintetsu? Then you wouldn't have to find a new bar :roll: :wink:

Those look interesting! If I drank (am allergic to alcohol!), I would try that. I wonder what ice cream would taste like with the bitterness of beer?

Lalo, I think we need to get a booth for Bert, and set him up with his airbrush so that he can give out sakura temporary tattoos to all of the young hens :P

David performed yesterday at the Peace Plaza and will march next Sunday in the parade. We were almost not on time due to meeting Stan Lee at a signing in Sunnyvale earlier. Here are a couple pictures of the signing and then Dave's Tsuzumi performance on Saturday, April 9.

anyone spot any japanese people at the festival?

I've also never been to an eating/drinking spot with Bert and have the employees NOT know him by name. Usually I decline eating when hanging out with him because I assume the restaurants/bars will douse my food/drink with rat pee

thought this might be of interest to folks headed to the festival this weekend.

"A group of Japanese artists who work in creative industry in the Bay Area such as Pixar, DreamWorks, Lucas Film and Namco are having their booth at this weekend's Cerry Blossom Festival in San Francisco selling some rare products such as signed books and original t-shirts.
The entire proceeds will go to Japan Earthquake Relief Fund set up through the festival.

Original t-shirts will be for sale at the booth!

Date: April 16th and 17th
Time: 11am to 6pm
Location: Booth#37 and #38 (See the map to find the location of the booth.)
Address: Buchanan St x Sutter St

There will be donated goods from Japanese artists in the Bay Area as well as fun face paint and calligraphy!!! Bring your kids, have fun, and help Japan!"
