i got this in china, there were two other colors. about 4-5 inches tall, its brittle hard plastic with stickers, wings fold, legs bend, arms move, but it doesn't transform into anything as the articulation would lead you to believe. i just think its a cool bat robot, and would be happy if there were other versions of him out there somewhere. any help is appreciated! |

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ramas2k/2144669162/ http://www.toyarchive.com/Convertors/Avarians.html yours appears to be a bootleg of "Robat" from the Convertors "Avarians" line. |

Hehe...weren't Convertors, themselves, basically bootlegs? I have the four car-robots from Galvion...atrocious toys, but kinda fun in their fugliness. |

i knew i could count on you guys- i think this isnt a bootleg of converters, just another color? mine can transform now i found out, but it scares me when moving the pieces. i remember seeing this black color in the case. someone on flickr pointed out that it could be a bootleg of the transformer MINDWIPE, hes a bat, and transforms the same. still an awesome toy in my book! i really like the primary color scheme, i just wish he was diecast and hefty. thanks for the help |

I know someone else must know the history better, but the vast majority of “Convertors” were toys made from designs/molds from a varied lot of Japanese toys in the 1980s. The “Convertors” is the closest to a coherent expression of this stuff since they were decently made, but this stuff gets bootlegged like crazy even to this day. |

That's accurate...except maybe the "decently made" part. Well...a lot of the Convertors toys were well-manufactured in quality materials...but the designs were generally pretty shitty! |

Seriously? How does this wikipedia article not clear all of this up? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convertors READ it. I was surprised by the fact that they were actually legit toys. |
