What gloss is ideal for resin cast pieces? I'd prefer to use a spray gloss for even application. |

krylon i believe has this one called Triple Thick and it almost does a glass like coat on your piece. really awesome and if you are casting in clear, it will really bring out clearness of the piece |

i like the Tamiya Color clear spray. Its just the right amount of gloss and it bonds so well to the paint. |

Triple Thick by DecoArt. Any triple thick spray glaze should work. The Plaid or Krylon brands have never worked well for me. |

Johnson's Future Floor Wax is the best clear coat you can apply, short of the automotive stuff Dead Presidents uses... it's an acrylic clear gloss that is both brushable and sprayable in an airbrush straight from the bottle. Much cheaper and easier than any rattle cans. |

I've been using Krylon Uv resistant gloss and depending on the weather it's pretty good. I've found the triple thick loses a lot of detail in the sculpt. |

I need to check out that floor wax. I remember I used Thompsons Water Seal spray once and it worked great. |

The piece I want to clear coat is an old Le Merde clear Burgerbuns from back before he put on a clear coat. I think I have a can of Krylon at the house. So I'll probably go with that. |

I'm pretty certain Mike used to use a gloss spray like a Krylon. You could always try emailing him. |

I just wanted to check with UhOh because he said Krylon didn't work for him. But I'm lazy and I think I have the Krylon so I'll use that and probably ruin it. ![]() |

Burgerbuns don't have a lot of detail so it should work fine. I don't Krylon because it's too thin and didn't really protect like it should (paint still chips). I think it's the Krylon that tends to clog every time. Rustoleum comes pre-clogged. If it works just keep using it. |

Future does not need to be buffed, and dries to a brilliant crystal clear shine. I have never had it react with any paint adversely, and it is much better for sealing things like vinyl customs, as Krylon Crystal Clear can sometimes react with soft plastics and make the paint go tacky, but a coat of Future over-top will prevent that problem. A couple coats of Future are also quite resilient... it's what I've been using to protect the paint on all of my vinyl customs (and my models at this point)... I can apply a matte or satin varnish over-top of the Future if I need a different finish, but every figure gets three coats of Future to seal the paint. |

The floor wax is so weird I never would have thought of that, I'm very intrigued. Where did you learn about it Prometheum? |

It does seem weird at first, but it works so well you'll swear it's secretly designed as a painting product. Future's been a staple in the modeling community for years now... you can use it for everything from applying a gloss surface for decals to mixing it with washes to cut the surface tension, and even to create clear colors in a spot. |

Again like I mentioned before do NOT get Windex or any sort of Windex style product on Future or it will be ruined. |

I can't seem to find any Johnson's but there is one by Pledge that looks exactly the same. Can anyone confirm it's the same stuff? http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/3 ... 5%2BmL.jsp Thanks in advance. ------------- Edit: Nevermind it seems that in Canada the stuff is under the name "Pledge", which is a part of the Johnson family of products. |

Dead Presidents uses HOK Urethane UC35 for his clear coats. Don't forget the KU-150 Hardener and RU Reducer. |
