So I have been working on a new figure called "Orion". Im pretty happy with the way it turned out. These resin are test pulls I did myself. They have bubbles So I decided to make them into test paints. All the painting was done by me. Im still learning to paint so any tips or feedback would help. Im having all the release resin pulls done by Oni Creations (Hiro) so they will be bubble free. The figure has three points of articulation (waist and arms). Love the feet and details, are they painted or it's the effect of the resin? |

Here is a pic of my next run of Orions before they get painted. GID resin base. Oni Creations poured all the resins for me and they look fantastic. Very little to no bubbles and way higher quality resin. Thank you Hiro! ![]() Savage Freaks "Orion" first run G.I.D. by Savage Freaks, on Flickr |

MonstaIslandCzar wrote: I am definitely down for an unpainted gid!! Awesome! I got one with your name on it two. Ultra999 wrote: when's the eventual vinyl release? ![]() Probably not for awhile Not that I wouldn't want any of my sculpts made into vinyl, its just not in the budget. That is why I love resin so much. I can start to finish a project in a week. for about $200. Plus resin is helping me learn how different textures and sculpting ideas translate into a toy. I think down the road when I generate more money and hone in more of my sculpting skills vinyl will be the natural progression. Thank you, It makes me happy that people are enjoying what Im creating. |

atom gray wrote: very cool character, love the clear...wish i wasn't so dreadfully backed up on customs right now! how is the peg joint working for you on these? They are working well. Definitely better than the skinny wooden sticks I was using. I like it because you get smooth articulation and they fit perfectly. One arm was loose so I put one double side stick tab (photo corners) on the peg and it made it super snug. As soon as I can source some metal dowels Im going to start using them to make them even more durable. |

^^you should look for some shelf pins that will fit what you are doing. they come in funky shapes sometimes but im sure you can find ones that are just straight rod. |

EVOM wrote: ^^you should look for some shelf pins that will fit what you are doing. they come in funky shapes sometimes but im sure you can find ones that are just straight rod. Thats a great idea. I got the name of a company that makes metal dowels I just haven't had the time to to find where to buy them yet, but it seems promising. Ultra999 wrote: or magnets! I have tried them and they work good, but you have to incorporate a recess in the sculpt to hold the magnet and I didn't do that. I could drill it out but its tough to get the hole in the same place every time . I definitely want to explore the magnets more in future sculpts. I know Kirkland did an great job. atom gray wrote: computerhair415 wrote: They are working well. Definitely better than the skinny wooden sticks I was using.
