I can't stop listening to anything on Doc Scott's 31 Records label this week. Anything from Marcus Intalex's Love & Happiness to the original Shadowboxing. I've been busy digitizing all my records. |

Truth.. Honestly I don't get why people are so into DB, there are a million guys like him doing this same shit in Detroit. I don't see why people a buying into the hype. Yes, he's good, but the only thing that sets him apart is his image, and he's the first to state that it's all just a show. I've seen him way before all this play shit, and to be honest, I thought the same way I do now, yeah he's good, but I've heard it a million times before, It's Michigan rap. Someone I love in the Michigan rap scene, is La Famiglia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITjhKY2S9Xg, and Willie the Kid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZCEZ0x-Kwg 2 different kind of Grand Rapids fed hip-hop, that could change the rap game. |

I had a slight interest in electronic music at the time, but when the United State 90 album came out in 1990 it put me over the edge. MTV had some weird segment on UK raves around the same time and I saw footage of them playing 'Cubik' in England at a festival. Hook, line, and sinker for me... |

They played everything live! Yeah durring the time I was into grunge. My first rave was in 92 not much after that concert, and the rest is history. |

computerhair415 wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LXl4y6D-QI A classical piece that anyone can enjoy. I'm a total classical-and-baroque head but don't really talk about it here. Saw 808 State at Club DNA in SF many moons ago. They had some REALLY WEIRD ecstacy dancers with them, and as a surprise Björk came out at one point to sing a couple of songs. She was so cute ... she came out shaking her finger at the audience as if to say "naughty naughty!," and her performance was over the top. I got pretty sick of the endless versions of "Cubik" pretty fast but otherwise 808 was a solid outfit while they lasted. Loved LFO's "We Are Back" when it first came out. Sad how most Acid House/Techno went really bad all of a sudden after a few years, and IMHO stayed bad to this day. At least I got to see some of the early stuff, before the word "rave" became ubiquitous and big money came in to change the scene. SOTD: "Broken" by Gorillaz. I know "Plastic Beach" didn't set many worlds on fire, but that one song really sticks in my head. |

"The song describes what Roger Waters says he experienced during the band's 1977 tour, the band's first major stadium tour" This explains a lot! I saw the wall last Friday at Pac Bell Park. Changed my life! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUK1fWWR84E |
