Any NIN fans here? I was a fan back in the downward spiral & pretty hate machine days. Then I kind of lost touch. Recently a friend burned me With Teeth and a week ago he gave me a copy of YZ & tFragile. I've been listening to YZ all week and it blows my mind each time I listen to it. I have some Grado CANs and thats definitely the way to hear this album. _Ethan |

Is the new album more like "With Teeth" or "The Fragile"? I didn't think with teeth was very good...just a bunch of songs trying to be radio singles...not atmospheric enough for me. |

It isn't like either, on most NIN CD's the "Noise" is in the background for the most part, or at least has some formula or rhythm. On Year Zero, it's all in the front and can at times sound just like what it is, noise. Most musical artists change direction in their carreers at one point or another, they get fat with popularity or just resolve a lot of their problems/issues. They change the layout, but who can really blame them, who really wants to play the same songs after 1 year long tour. Some gain even more populartiy while others are ridiculed for their attempts at change. I'm guessing that RHCP are more popluar now than ever, but looking back at Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magick, you can clearly see how far they've "progressed" and have been able to withstand the test of time musically. Metallica is a diiferent story. Once praised as Metal Gods for their earlier work, are now looked upon as sell-outs. Year Zero isn't by far Pretty Hate Machine or Broken, but maybe i just need to let it grow on me. I think i'll give it another listen to right now. |

I heard a song as my wife flipped across MTV2 the other day. I actually looked up from what I was doing because the music was listenable! Then I recognized it as NIN. I never heard "With Teeth" or "Fragile" (didn't even know about that one!). But I might pick up this new one...and might work backwards to "Teeth" and "Fragile". Kinda regretting that I sold "Broken" and "Fixed" so many years ago... |

I like the whole album. I liked With Teeth, but Year Zero is much better. I would say it's only second to The Downward Spiral for me. I love Broken & The Fragile, but Broken was only six songs, 8 if you count the bonus tracks, & The Fragile just had too many mediocre songs on it. It's crazy to think that I have been listening to this band for 16 years already. I have been really busy since I bought Year Zero, so I haven't had a chance to just sit down & listen to it the whole way through. I have listened to the whole album a couple of times, just not in one sitting. The highlights to me are Survivalism, Me, I'm Not, The Warning, God Given, Meet Your Master, & In This Twilight. I like all of the songs to some degree though. All in all this album was a very pleasant surprise for me. |

I thought With Teeth was the worst NIN album ever. I don't think there is a single, good song on that whole CD. Now, I like NIN, I have everything up to that point. |

I loved NIN hated anything fragile on.. year zero had good marketing but think it lacks from what i've heard and trent looks like a freak now i also think he's a hypocrite with the whole year zero thing but then allows the RIAA and FBI to plaster anti pirate messages all over the fucking packaging integrity. |

I have not heard the new album, but I did do some web banners for em at work.
I dig there new one art, hoping the album is just as good. NIN was the first concert I ever saw when I was 12. NIN played with david bowie. My parents took me and Ill never forget the guy in front of me, who wrapped his body in electrical tape then peeled it off while screeming at the top of his lungs.. priceless. |
