Maybe the city he has listed on his ebay auctions (arlington heights, IL, United States) is correct and we'll just not ship to that city but I'd rather just know who it is so I know who not to sell for sure...I'm making a "flipper list" and will do it one flipper at a time just to fight back against these dopes...he's got too many things on ebay that i tried to buy when they came out and i gotta buy 'em from this dude? no way in hell.

we at CP can do our part by not selling/shipping to flippers at least.

we have to dunk the alleged flipper in a big tub of water. if they sink, then they'll probably drown. but if they float, they're the flipper and I want their head rammed onto a stake and burnt to a crisp

then we equally divide their remaining toys

So if the toy weighs the same as a duck, then it's made of wood. And therefore... ?

Maybe he's one of Franks subbers? I'm not sure if the Mutants that went to subbers had the playing cards but it's just a thought. If he's not a subber he's a flipper and should be burned at the stake.

sadly I think the war is over. About six months ago people started apologizing and defending this and other kinds of shitty/exploitive crap on SB. Now flipping is rampant.

Sadly the effect is most of the folks who have older stuff will only offer good deals to people they know. I feel bad for the people just catching on because the well has been poisoned in the name of "fair market" values. A couple of our members are actually defending Kidclam today.

I say close the Buy and Sale part of the board and only allow trades.

Despite the fact that I share your objection to the recent defenses of flippers, have you really seen rampant flipping here on RFSO? If so forgive me 'cause I've missed it. More often than not members praise the sales here for being fair and for "RFSO prices." I feel spoiled by the goodwill here when I look at the KR board BST, where flipping is not only outrageously over the top, but completely accepted. I hope this doesn't sound too Pollyanna but despite the recent defenses of flippers, I don't see it happening in an ugly way on this board.

I enjoy the trade section here but find it more frustrating than the sales threads, as most traders (myself included) are extremely narrow about what they'll trade for.

whoever it is bought that realxhead here on the board. ONLY rfso buyers recieved the nudie playing cards. my subbers and the handful that went by other means alll got stickers and so on instead of the naked ladies.

ITS ONE OF YOUR OWN.

LOL

edit: Ok I looked at my ship records and I know who it is.

If the board goes to trade only I'd have to start buying up new releases to use as trade bait. If anything I'd prefer to ban "make me an offer" sales, since flippers tend to avoid putting high prices in their sales posts so they can run an auction but still look rfso.

what I find the most appalling is people that light the torches, embark on flipper hunts, burn them at the stake and then continue to buy from that particular person!!  fucking hypocrites

is there a time limit involved with something you have bought when you can sell it to someone else?

i'd understand if this thing goes on ebay the day it shows up and it's 125 bucks, but when is it OK?

if toy flipping were like house flipping, then those that have custom painted a toy then resold it for a profit are the true flippers!!

I suppose this is true on some level and a valid point, but read in context of Brian's excellent posts on flipping, it seems that people keep changing premises when they argue about flippers.

If you're selling retail, but also collect, you wear two hats. On the one hand, if what you sell at retail gets flipped for big bucks, you can feel good about it because what you're selling is in demand and the big flip is a sign that you're going to keep on selling. It's good news.

On the other hand, as a retialer, your business is dependent on the collectors — they're a bigger market, and even the flippers depend on them and their "completist" and "holy grail" and "got it first" insecurities. So to keep business going well, you have to maintain credibility with the collectors. The problem is that the flippers prey on the collectors' good faith towards other collectors. Either by paying bums to get in line to have first shot at the retailers, or by bringing grandma to the convention, or, more significantly, by taking advantage of collectors' reasonable prices that they are presumably offering to other collectors. Nobody likes being taking advantage of, because you get made the fool.

Make a reasonable sale, and then have that item flipped is just like the buyer saing "fuck you." Unless you're selling at retail, and then it's an unspoken "thanks."

creepers, children........
who cares
I'm too busy getting on enjoying my life, my music, my toys, my friends to be worried about this.

there are a few people on here with a huge amount of posts who try and flip shit to newer members, no one names and shames them do they? just buy from the people you know, simple as.
If the evil bay price is too high ignore it, when i came here it was pretty fun, I made some good contacts and good friends. A bunch of people sorted me out with stand up prices to help me along with my collection and so really pushed the whole RFSO deal onto me.
Life is like that stop being crybabies.
the whatever section used to be a fave of mine, lots of talk about music , movies and dumb shit.

Enjoy your toys , but if that is all you have..........

I agree. To some extent, though, trades would be fine if 90% of the requests didn't seem to be "OLDER RxH, CRONIC AND GOGAS PLZ." I'm sure this is an exaggeration of the truth, but that's the feeling I get whenever I open up the Trade Bait forum. Maybe this would change if trades were the only way business were done here, or maybe not.

I think 'make an offer' sales are more justified when you're selling really unusual or rare pieces. Otherwise, I'd rather just see a price and avoid going through the auction-esque psychology of figuring out a fair offer.

Just my $0.02, as they say. I do like the Buy/Sell forum, however, because (1) I have picked up a lot of cool things at RFSO prices from there (for which all of you who have dealt with me have my gratitude) and (2) in the event that I need to sell things, I'd rather sell to the collectors here, than simply hawk it on the bay.
