I'm wanting to get rid of my point & shoot and get something a bit better (ie one that takes nice indoor close-ups) but not dropping a a giant wad of cash. With all the great images I see on this board, I thought I would ask what camera people use (& like). |

I swear by my canon powershot. Its a few years old now & there are better ones out, but mine still takes good shots. There are many models w/ varying features. Not sure what you need, but I would check them out. |

powershot all the way. I just replaced my old one with an a560 that seems ok. I can't figure out what the manual setting does, because it doesn't have shutter or aperature settings. |

I'm a Nikon guy myself. I use a D70S SLR for "important" stuff and a pocket sized S10 for point and shoot purposes. I've also used a Canon 10D which produced really impressive results. Here's a resource I've used before buying all of my cameras: http://www.steves-digicams.com/default.htm |

I have a powershot as well and it takes pretty good macro photos. My only complaint is it has no sort of anti-shake sensors so taking some styles of photos really sucks. Especially at a concert or dark environment when you dont want to use the flash. I am looking at getting a Digital SLR. |

I mostly use my Canon 5D but recently picked up a Canon G7 which is a good point and shoot. If you want to get into a DSLR and want to spend the least, Rebel hands down. Spend the money on a lens instead and you'll be much happier. |

Quick thread resurrection and question: I'm looking for a new camera too, and I have an OLD Canon Power shot A300, my biggest problem with it is 1-the flash is WAY too bright and there's no way to tone it down and 2-it's hard to focus on a point and shoot level, it blurs A LOT! Do newer versions of the Power Shot do that or should I just go for a dif. brand/company? For me, other than toy photos, it's more about taking nice pics on vacations and things. |

I'm getting a Canon Rebel Xti in a month or so. I played with one for a week recently and I am in love with how easy it was to use. I can't wait to get it and bring it to Paris |

I think a rebel is a bit too much for me, money and tech wise from what I saw when casually looking. I just need something that has a good focus and makes things look good. Nothing SUPER fancy. I'm looking through reviews on some sites too though. |
