Post subject:  thanks microsoft

two days ago xbox customer support told me that the twenty pound brick with three flashing red lights in my living room was the fault of my surge protector. (yeah right!)

i wake up today to the news that microsoft is extending the warranty from 1 to 3 years and reimbursing folks who shelled out 149 to fix their dead monster machines!!

i gotta say, i am impressed that microsoft made this move.
i am, however, very unimpressed with their bad proto-techno hold music. i had to listen to that for an hour!

I know I probably shouldn't say anything but my box has had zero problems with a lot of use. Thank god.

Next time I turn it on it will most likely blow up now. ( I am picturing a mini mushroom cloud.)

I bought mine in December of last year. It only had about six hours of use on it when I got an unable to read disc error. I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but it kept happening after about 20 minutes of use with multiple discs. I took it back to Circuit City a couple of days later & got a replacement. So far so good.

I got my 360 last year, I think around June. Around January of this year, mine got hit with a case of the reds. Sent it in, got it back, and it works beautifully now. I'm not sure if they fixed mine or if I got a refurbished one -- I never did check, but as long as it works I don't care.

What's everyone's GT? Mine is doktorMott.

I guess i lucked out. I've had mine for about 5 or 6 months now.

My dog nicked the cable when she was walking by and it pulled the console off a table to a 4 foot drop. It made the "somethings wrong" spinning sound and burned a ring into one of my games. I still get unable to read errors from time to time but it isn't bad enough to fix. It'll happen maybe once every 3 weeks or so.

I have to say i'm impressed with the online community microsoft has created and their ability to update multiplayer on GOW and such. That sort of investment in online game is pretty much the reason why it owns the PS3.

BTW my gamertag is "JesusIncarnate" add me if you want to get owned in GOW.
