Post subject:  ebay question

So I had a question. I was thinking of selling something on ebay but wasn't sure if it's the right thing to do. Basically i need some cash to buy more art supplies. Supporting both me and my lady kinda makes it hard for me to buy art supplies that cost me about 200 to 300 dollars a month. But if I sold the item on ebay and if the price goes really high, I didn't want to feel like a flipper. So is it ok to post a item I know would probably go crazy or should I just leave it alone and find another way to make money. Any advice???

I say if you need money just sell it on ebay. Start the auction at $0.01 and see where it goes.

Definitely. Embrace maximum risk and start it at a penny, no reserve. That way, no matter which way it ends due to insane bidders who smell blood in the water, your conscience is clean.

No guilt when it comes to funding art supplies! Do it dude. Anyone calls you out for "flipping," we got your back. Anyone who knows jack about you knows that you're not only a stand-up kinda guy and a true collector, but also altruistic and a talented aspiring artist.

I don't know if you're comfortable sharing your eBay handle here, but if you are, it's totally possible that some of us will bid higher than usual just to show some support.

Man, if you need the money, sell that shit off! I don't think anyone here would consider that flipping.

We talked about this in the "what to do about offers" thread. I found my suggestion(as the thread is about to be deleted from teh for sale section) and present it below:

"My personal preference is I'm not into blind auctions, so I favor the three options below:

1. List with a price if you want to help board people score at a decent price.
2. Run a non-blind auction if you don't know what its worth, but want to limit to board members.
3. Take it to ebay if you don't know what its worth and/or want to expand the audience to maximize your return.

In the end its up to the individual."

Seems a few people agreed.

LOTS of people on here have sold stuff on ebay - some get berated :? , and some get cheered :? . My opinion is that you have to do what you have to do. I LOVE giving and getting board only bargains, and love the great vibessome of these offers generates, don't get me wrong, BUT also regardless of reason, sometimes you need to maximize your audience. ... and teh choice should be up to teh individual (without fear of a mob coming down on them).

Thank you everyone for the advise. I will think about selling it on the bay because this is a item i really really really really really really really really...... don't wanna let go, but if it's for my art I will have to let it go. Because I really want to get better at my artwork and learn new things.

But thank you again for the advise. You guys are all great!!!!

And now that we're all worked up, you'll have to tell us what the toy is...

also, you are only a flipper if you bought the toy with the SOLE intent of selling it for profit.

If you're dealing with your conscience... sell it to someone for a set price that you can both live with. Less thrills, but then it's not going to someone you'd rather it not go to. OR find another way to finance your art supplies and release yourself from the dilemma altogether.
