Someone recommended this and I rented the DVD last night (at my little locally-owned rental store it was with the anime - ?). Anyway, this is a truly great 2004 animated feature-length film from Canada.

Maybe my favorite part is how all the characters' faces are SO impossibly, perfectly, French-looking. Not good-looking, indeed pretty ugly for the most part, but unmistakably French.

It was nominated for an Oscar (but lost out to Nemo), and won dozens of other awards - check it out. Certainly a refreshing change of pace from anything Pixar.

That was a pretty cool cartoon, I watched it in French class. I really like the character design, very exaggerated designs!

The Triplets and Howl's Moving Castle are, in my opinion, two of the finest animated films ever (not that I've seen them all, or very many at all, really...but they do kick ass)

Triplets was great! And I can't help but imagine the characters influenced pixar when they animated the character of Linguini in the recent film Ratatouille.

I believe the character was actually modeled after his hero in the movie, Fausto Coppi, "Campionissimo".

i'm a fan of the movie because of the old school cycling alone.

one of the most excellent animated films ever! i saw it 3 times in the cinema, then downloaded it and i have a froend who has a building here in SF where we showed it outdoors last year to about 40 people projected on the side of the building.

my favorite character is the dog. it is so evident how much the filmmaker loves the canine in this film....so, highly recommended

I couldn't find it on YouTube but that year a bunch of musicians played Belleville Rendezvous on the Academy Awards Show. Keeping in the spirit of the movie they actually used a bike tire and vacuum cleaner as percussion. It was a bright spot in an otherwise boring old award show.

While those impossibly stacked hamburgers were probably supposed to make me feel ashamed about my gluttonous American appetite, they totally made me hungry as hell... I still think about those burgers once in a while.

I love it. Actually went out and bought a copy and now that I'm reminded of it I'll have to see it yet again!
