got a celga shipment in and unfortunately the two older bxh toys have some scuffs on them. is there a way to get the scuffs/dirt off without damaging anything? it doesnt appear the paint is scratched... it looks like the scuffs are on top of the paints |

Yikes. More experienced collectors may have a better solution, but for starters I'd try using one of those microfiber dusting cloths gently on the affected areas. I use them to occasionally dust my figures and detect no abrasion. They seem to be pretty safe. Good luck! |

you could try the magic eraser (it has saved many a toy for me) but i'd defintely try to test it on the bottom of the foot or a part that you don't care about first. Sometimes it works really well...so well that it could also remove the paint or shine. test first, and don't blame me if anything goes wrong! haha. |

majic eraser works wonders, but be carefull, it will take the paint right off certain surfaces.. including, I would think matte finishes. |

For older figures, most collectors leave the skuffs - many value the fact that the toy may in fact have been "played" with by somebody. If they are newer, and you want to use the "magic eraser" do be careful! It is best if there is just a small mark on a solid light colored background. If the background is dark, you are probably better off leaving it alone. |

I have a couple things with scuffs and yes, it bothered me initially, but I just grew to live with it and usually forgot they were even there (from a distance), and focused on other things. I'd never attempt to clean up vintage pieces. |

I went crazy with a magic eraser on my kidhunter (it was in pretty bad shape and it was cheap) and it worked great. Somehow it took off the scuffs and yellowing but not the paint, maybe I just got lucky. I'd try rubbing lightly before you really start scrubbing though. |

On unpainted vinyl, I have used a white vinyl eraser (like for drawing and drafting) and spit. Keep end of the eraser slightly wet by licking it (or lick your finger and apply). Water won't work, it's gotta be spit. This will work sometimes on painted vinyl, but rub very lightly and in short durations. |

Mine wasn't clear, and I think it was yellowing from smoke or something. Getting the yellow out of a clear toy sounds harder. |

i do use the magic eraser on many old dolls, and figures. it works wonders, but I also know customizers who use it to remove 'makeup' from dolls...so yes, proceed w/ caution. sounds like others have had good luck with it. If I could look at it, I could probably tell you whether it would work or not. that's how much i swear by them. haha. keep one or 2 on hand always for those ebay toys that arrive in "less than mint" condition. |
