your #1 pick is excellent Booddrinker.

I think Americans are getting selfish and inconsiderate, more and more every day. afterall, not using your turn signal means you have no consideration for others driving, as if you own the road. I even see police not use turn signals.

I'm starting to think it is also related to intelligence. stupid people just don't think about being considerate or their fellow man.

But what's wrong with politicis in music? I take it you don't really like punk rock.

I love punk. The Stooges, Dolls, Johny Thunders, The Ramones even some 80's Hardcore like Red Kross and The Misfits never (or if so RARElY) brought up politics. Here's an overview of why I hate politics in music.

1- The people listening almost NEVER question the singer/song writer. EVER. They just take it. They'll question everyone else, but not the artist or their new found thoughts. They WANT to believe it cause' their fav. band is screaming about it, they can't be wrong...can they?

2-It gets outdated. I like timeless music. A song about hating Regan from the 80's does nothing for me. I don't care. I don't care about Bush either. In another 10 years why would I give a crap (I don't want some long political essay in response to this telling me how, PLEASE!) But the Ronettes and Slayer are timeless:wink:

3- Lets be honest, it's just another form of propaganda, something else I hate. It's just a "hey stupid, average person here's a quick, easy opinion but since it's given in a form of art don't question it" It's insulting. It's no better than shameless self promotion. Look how much money was made hating Bush during his admin. Look at it. It's fucking staggering, and so little actually went anywhere accept the artists pocket. They're just using it all (now) because it's popular and a hot subject and want to capitalize on the hype of it all, which I'm all for. Go ahead and make you're money, good, but I don't wanna listen to some bozo whine and shout about politics they know less about than I do. Again, insulting.

I also think if you want to DO something about things politically you should REALLY get involved. Not just jam some Marley or DK at a protest. Go find out who you support the most, even if it is some scrub ass you know won't win. Help campaign. Or get REALLY into it, buy a suite and go into politics yourself and try to help and change things from the inside.

That's mainly why. It has nothing to do with the OPINIONS held in the music. It's the way they're presented. I don't like whiney music to put it short. it's annoying.

Anyway, long winded response over.

I'm with you guys on this. Seems like the use of signals is viewed as optional by most folks and they can't be bothered.

And for the record I like horses. They're delicious.

I heard an awful reason NOT to use you turn signals on the highway lately. "Because than the person in the other lane won't let you in."

Ugh! Sometimes that's true, but still I've been damn near killed like a dozen times because some jag DIDN'T put on his signal and just cut me off when i would have gladly let him in if I saw the blinker.

Driving sucks over all.

I wonder how much of it is intelligence, how much of it is cultural, or if it just boils down to how each individual's upbringing. People who aren't brought up without being taught the virues of being considerate and thinking about one's actions.

Even as an atheist, I think the world could be a paradise if everybody kept the golden rule in mind: "Treat others as you would like to be treated."

(Yeah, you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. ;p)
