My intuition tells me that it might be bad to store vinyl toys in the attic because of heat during the summer and cold during the (Michigan) winter - but I am running out of storage space in "climate controlled" areas of the house that I can devote to the collection. Any thoughts? Experiences, positive or negative? Thanks! |

pretty good Aerosmith tune... My guess on the toy storage is that gradual change probably won't hurt them much, but the heat in the summertime could cause some of the juicier ones to leech that gooey vinyl resin stuff, which would not be a good thing... I know someone here has posted pics of bins filled with toys in his attic, just can't remember who it was... You could always have a sale (let me know) or (and not any easier than parting with toys), convince your wife to give up another room in the house for toy storage! Good luck! |

I keep stuff I can't fit in a huge Rubbermaid tub in my laundry room (where it's the same conditions as anywhere else in my house.) I wouldn't put anything in the garage or attic or basement myself. |

I can't speak for Taro, but for me I'm in a temporary living situation without room to display everything I have. But again, it's only temporary. So once I get something more permanant, BOOM! But selling me your Vader Dako is also an amazingly good idea

I'm in a similar sitchiation as Blood's--only all of my stuff is in my closet (until I get some nice display shelves or something). I kind of have this little rule that if I can't remember all my vinyl pieces off the top of my head, then I probably won't miss them too much and can sell the shit. If it gets to the point where I'm like "oh yeah, I forgot about that one", then it's time to cut it down. If I need money, it's also a good time to sell.

Hmmmm an attic seems sketchy, maybe a damp basement would work better? I like to store mine on top of puddles, it keeps them fresh. I call it AquaPacking, like they do with veggies. After that I would reccommend stacking heavier boxes on top to make sure they aren't going anywhere. |
