you can just do screen captures (apple+shift+3 or apple+shift+4 for target capture) while the dvd plays on your screen

Although you would think that you could just take a screenshot, from my experience, it won't let you (or the video just comes out as a black screen). I have used the aptly titled DVD Capture program without any problems.

get yourself a copy of HANDBRAKE (freeware)
http://handbrake.m0k.org/

just rip the chapter of the DVD you need, then bring it in to iMovie, Final Cut or whatever you are using and you can take a still shoot of it...

OR

use VLC
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

either will work

I second "Grab" though It might be tricky on full screen mode.

Representin'! I just switched to the new 24" iMac and am loving it. I haven't used a Mac since the Performa days and now wonder why I waited so long? Thank you, Vista.
VLC is great. It seems to play all the formats that Quicktime doesn't.
