hey kids can anyone recommend some software for the mac as i need to take some stills from a dvd (pref freeware too !) or does anyone have access to this software and a copy of the movie yellow submarine??? I know this is a wierd request but i need some stills of the butterfly stomper from said film..... can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction ? thanks |

you can just do screen captures (apple+shift+3 or apple+shift+4 for target capture) while the dvd plays on your screen |

Although you would think that you could just take a screenshot, from my experience, it won't let you (or the video just comes out as a black screen). I have used the aptly titled DVD Capture program without any problems. |

i've used a utility called Grab. the screen grab function doesn't always work. |

get yourself a copy of HANDBRAKE (freeware) http://handbrake.m0k.org/ just rip the chapter of the DVD you need, then bring it in to iMovie, Final Cut or whatever you are using and you can take a still shoot of it... OR use VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ either will work |
