I was in SD yesterday and around noon the sky went smokey.

Then around 3 is it was really smokey bad.

I headed back to LB about 5PM and saw other fires on the way back up.

Just this morning Melissa called and said they were being evacuated due to the "witch" fire that started in Ramona.

It's those damn Santa ana winds.

Crap.

Its nowhere near me yet, thankfully. It might end up as big as the fire in 2003 which was horrible.

Yeah, the air quality sucks right now. My school is being used as a facility for evacuees at the moment.

Thanks. The evacuation area is huge but luckily I'm right outside of it. Hope everyone else is ok.

We're packing to get ready for an evacuation just in case.

I don't think its close to those places, maybe vista might be a little closer.

The fires are not close to Encinitas yet but are getting closer to Vista. I don't know if they have been given evacuation orders though.

the 133 off the 405 is closed over here by laguna beach, there is crazy fire smell and the sky is a hazed grey. If the fire comes close all the vinyl is being loaded into my cadillac and I am out of here :D

Not as bad as the laguna beach fires a while back though there was about an inch of ash outside and you couldn't even go outside.

Work today was slow as hell. Here in Escondido we had some parts with evacuations. My toys + records are ok,Joy and I are alright, and most importantly the cats are all safe!!!

Okay So Joy's dad had to evacuate. and now we are packing the essentials(food, water, clothes, the cats) along with personal belongings(Joy=photo's,keepsakes, etc) and (me=toys, records{must choose quickly and fill only 2 boxes},computer). We are prepping just in case. As of right now,4:10 pm pst,We are basically surrounded with fires in San Marcos,Scripps Ranch,Del Dios Highway,Lake Hodges,Poway,Fallbrook, etc.

Wish us luck as we are awaiting for word from the Fire Department and or Police.

Good luck, take care, and be safe. The "stuff" is expendable - your lives are not.

We know this for sure. As of last night the fires were about 15-20 miles from us. WE live in North Escondido and the fires are about 3 miles from us!!! WE ARE SAFE RIGHT NOW. We got clothes, first aid, water, food, etc in the car. the cats are all in the living room with me right now. My toys records, photo's,videos(family),are all packed. We are in no rush and are just waiting for word and we grab the cats, get in the car and go to a safe evacuation zone.
"Stuff" is definitely expendable but since we had such a big advanced warning we decide to pack up some extras.

Update: the winds have died down so the flames are not travelling to fast. The fires starting in different areas are due to flying embers.

No evacuation as of yet. My girl's dad was allowed to return home but now the G-ma might have to leave her home!
For the time being I have been working 12 hour shifts at Home Depot. Getting alot of Fire and Police department folks coming in for respirators, dust masks, shovels, power generators, etc.
I this shit ends soon...i'm getting pissed at the problems it's already caused many of my friends here in the SD.

Last night I could see the fire on Mount Miguel from my house. It was about 15 miles away but still pretty crazy to see. The air quality is starting to get worse in my area. Most people I know either live in mandatory evacuation areas or have left on their own.

I seriously hope that everyone gets out okay. It is a terrible tragedy to lose everything you own including your home.

Cheers

It's surreal, I live in el cajon which is safe but the fire is to the north, and southwest areas. I'm basically in the middle of it but the fires haven't touched this area. I've had the last three days off from work and school was cancelled this week. however, I know so many people who have been evacuated and who are not sure if there houses are still there...
