So I'm hanging out with the family and my niece is watching Nick Jr. I catch myself looking over little by little. eventually I hear a song sung to the tune of a pixies song..(or semi sung but obviously pixies ish) and sit down right next to my niece. this is what I see on the television..

this may common knowledge to skullbrainers with kids. but Im like whoa tim biskup rip off? no way he helped design all these characters. Obvious japanese influence and the obvious helper-like biskup character. super cool kids show!

"yo gabba gabba" and I cant remember what song it was as it was just barely the melody.

the little toys that they take out of the case in the beginning were actually designed by Kid Robot. I'm not kidding either.

do you still like it now? hahaha

the show was actually created by some of the guys from the Aquabats. it's had great guest stars so far and the songs are catchy and fun.

also, I don't have kids. I just watch it. haha

also, I only think the orange guy, Muno, is Biskup-esque

in the others I see Robocon and Otter Pops, both awesome things nonetheless

Aquabats, that explains a lot. I gotta check it for sure now, I'm not even a big fan of their music as much as their designs/ideas.

I don't remember seeing Biskup's name on it. maybe I just missed it.

it does read "character designs by Kid Robot" though, which I took to mean they crafted those little figures

The Cyclops character “Muno” was created by Christian Jacobs in the late eighties and was also a villian in the Aquabats universe years before “the Helper”. Tim Biskup is aware of the both cyclopses but it’s ok. Gama-Go is friends with the The Aquabats from what I heard.

oh I never doubted that Biskup was upset or anything like that. I'm sure Gama-Go and the Aquabats are totally friendly - I could totally see that relationship.

Looks like they were inspired by Robocon/Gan-chan and Kure Kure Takora, as well...

Biz Markie, Mark Mothersbaugh, Tony Hawk, Elijah Wood ... lots of cool people have contributed to that show. I haven't seen it and probably never will, but as someone who used to work for Nickelodeon, I've gotta say, they really do respect kids and make a serious effort to deliver content that doesn't condescend to the target age range of any given show. There was a funny disconnect in our office. We liked a weird show called "Angry Beavers" that didn't last but didn't care for "Blue's Clues" or "Spongebob," both of which were hugely popular with kids. Jeez, when I was a kid we had to put up with those idiotic sock puppets on Captain Kangaroo. :-)

Uh oh!

Kidrobot gets together with television series Yo Gabba Gabba and will be releasing next month apparel as well as toys. The toys will come in 7-inch and 10-inch. Matching that release there will be some Kidrobot Hoodies releasing as well. Until now the brand has managed the fine line of colorful pieces that can still be worn by grown-ups, but with this release we really do feel they are getting into the childrens arena with the clothing. But, if you are into colorful and playful design it might still be the right thing for you!

Expect both clothing and toys to be releasing next month. Check out the toys after the jump.

I hate this show. My wife knows someone who works on it, so I've seen a couple episodes. The only things I like are the Biz, and the part of the show where a kid rocks out his/her dance moves:
"My name's Nathaniel....I like to daaaaaaance!"

Oh, and here's Biz's sick beat boxing lesson:

I know that Evan Dorkin and Sarah Dyer have worked on the show, but I've never seen it.

Plex looks like the bastard child of Gan Gara Gan Chan and Kyodaiin.

You shouldn't be blasted for appreciating them. It's not like hoodies per se are a bad thing. I love my Champion and S7 hoodies. They're useful in my climate and very comfortable. I think the hoody-hate is due to a couple of things: For one, the all-over print hoodies that more often than not look ugly, are poorly made, way overpriced, and are treated as "collectable" and "tradeable" by kids who may or may not ever even wear them, and secondly, the way that KR is remaking itself from a maker and distributor of cool toys to more of a "lifestyle boutique" for a different crowd, which ticked off a lot of people who used to appreciate KR for making it easier to get Lau, Brothersfree, etc. Just a theory, I dunno. To each their own, but I can see why you'd like these. They're not for me but they're kinda clever, and they're not that bad all-over print tacky style that makes suburban kids feel gangsta but look like clowns.
