| Post subject: | Lance Hahn/J Church |
This probably won't mean much for most people on here, but Lance Hahn from the band J Church passed away last week due to kidney failure. The reason I'm posting this here is he was part of the SF music scene in the 90's, contributed to Maximum Rocknroll, so I figure some people here may be familiar with what he did and what he stood for. I met Lance twice. The first time was when we put a show on for J Church in our basement during a venue drought here in Edmonton. It was an amazing show and we spent the rest of the evening talking about Canadians vs Americans, humor, punk rock and everything in between. The second time was a year or two later in Calgary when we drove down to see them play. I can't say i was the biggest J Church fan, but I really appreciated his sincerity as a person and in his lyrics. He had a great ethic and really walked the walk. http://www.austin360.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/music/entries/2007/10/21/rip_lance_hahn_1.html |

This is sad news. I never met the guy but I've been familiar with his stuff back to the Cringer days. Still have some of those records around. Rest In Peace |

Glad to see you back around Bryan. I'm not familiar with Lance but you seem to have a good sense of people and he obviously touched you in some way. Which is important and unique. Stay in touch. |

its very upsetting. I know that fund raising efforts were underway for a long time to help him with his medical bills. This is so sad & such a statement on the unfortunate health insurance policies in the US. |

This was a shock. I was really into J Church in university and have kept up with them ever since. Lance was a really interesting and intelligent guy, punk rock won't quite be the same for me... |
