i've been trying to compare the two - thought i would share... i hope this can help anyone who needs it,

and please feel free to add if you have anything

Commission
MOJ:
If the final bid price is for your item is Yen 2999 or less, then the base commission is $6.
If the bid final bid price is Yen 3,000 to Yen 10,000, then the base service fee is $10. For each additional Yen 1,000, there is a fee of $1.

CELGA:
1,001 to 10,000 is $10
10,001 to 20,000 is $20

so an 11,000 item from MOJ will cost $11 extra, but $20 from celga

--on commission i saved $27 overall on 15 toys from my latest MOJ shipment

Fees (bank transfer, etc.)
$2 per item each

Shipping inside Japan
i dont know how much difference it makes, but i believe MOJ is located in tokyo, and since so much of the population is there, odds are the shipping will be cheaper inside the city. celga is outside tokyo

like i said, i havent figured this one out yet

Shipping to US
i assume this is the same, as both use EMS

Additional costs
MOJ charges a paypal fee of 5% as well as a repacking fee for your big box. i'm not sure if Celga charges the 5% or the repacking fee. anyone know?

Other
unless you have celga gold, MOJ's bidding is much easier i think.

once you are registered with moj, you paypal them a deposit, and when they get it, 2 times that deposit is credited to your account. you log in and if you deposited 2000 yen, you will be able to bid on items up to 4000. your deposit goes down as you win items.

you can paste the auction URL into a form with your bid and a name for you to remember, and it places the bid for you instantly. you can add to your bid by just following the same process with a higher bid.

it then keeps a list of all your current items on their website (and past items too)

i havent run into any problems yet with competing with other MOJ customers for the same item... not sure how this would work[/u]

From that description, I think I like Celga's bidding system better (for gold accounts). It sounds more hands-on.

I don't believe there is a separate repacking fee or Paypal fee charged by Celga; this is probably just rolled into their per-item fee.

I don't really mind paying a little extra knowing I can bid at my leisure. If I didn't go with the gold acct, I might think differently, but for now it's pretty hassle free.

i don't know. i've tried both, too and i think the bidding system on moj is very easy, it allows you to look at past items you have bid on without bookmarking or doing searches, and i can seee at a glance every item i have ever bid on with them in one list.

hey pickle, do me a favor and tell the guys at moj i sent you....i think it's worth a $20 credit to my account ;)
