Looks like a resounding "maybe":

as mentioned in an earlier post, this is good news for us, bad news for Celga longer term.

but doesn't the basic problem still exist? Japanese sellers won't ship to international addresses?

that's excellent!

i wonder how they'll work out the whole wire transfer payment thing. that's such a foreign idea to most people in the US, but it seems that is the basis for most of the auctions on yja.

interesting though. it's certainly a boon for all parties involved.

This is just bad news in general. It is easy for me not to buy anything from YJA because I'd have to sign up with a 3rd party. Now they're just about eliminating that 3rd party which will open the flood gates to my non-existant bank account and making it possible to get a hold of toys that I had not been able to bid on. I think I may have just entered Hell....lol.

Was this covered in another thread? I did a search and didn't find it. Mods, please feel free to lock and/or merge if you see fit.

Nice!!... Excluding the 3rd parties will decrease our costs and increase our spending :D More importantly, lead times will be cut short. Reluctance to ship overseas by Japanese sellers and payment methods can be worked out if this unity is a success.

This is true to an extent. Granted fees through any buying service are a drag but combined shipping also saves a pile of money.

Ebay takes over the retail world!

If any of you were planning your Tokyo toy trip you better go now- the Tokyo consignment stores are going to be pretty empty and/or expensive next year...

Combine shipping does save but not a whole lot when using a 3rd party. Bank fee, shipping fee within Japan, currency conversion rates used by 3rd parties, final price markups, these all add up.

Also individual shipments of the average sized Kaiju by SAL or EMS to North America is relatively cheap so not being able to combine shipments isn't really that big of a deal considering the expense of using 3rd parties.
