Okay, here's the deal. My dad and I were going to come, well he called me this morning and told me that he can't go anymore. His best friend had a heart attack this morning and he doesn't think he's going to pull through. I can still use his truck to drive to SF but no one can go with me. It's a LONG drive to SF from Prescott. What should I do? My girl can't miss any more work, and I asked my few friends that think toys are cool but they can't go either. What do I do? I want to go out really bad but it's a long drive to do by myself.

To pricey. I thought of that right after I got off the phone with my dad, but it's really expensive. I'm still looking....

If you REALLY want to go, you will find a way.

How long is long? If it was ME I'd just drive, but I'm a big RxH nut. Usually my limit one way on driving is like 12 hours. But it also depends on how soon I'd need to drive back and what it's for.

Well the drive was going to be about 12-14 hours, and I was going to have to go late into the night and then leave pretty early on Sunday, so it was a lot of driving and no sleep in to short of a time period. But how about this for a change of events:

My dad calls me this morning says he was going to swing by. I figured it was going to be bad news about his friend...nope, he had 2 plane tickets in hand for my Fiancee and I!!! How fucking sick is that? Said he was really bummed our father-son trip didn't work out, but he just thought he has frequent flyer miles, why not let us use them? So now, in some insane change of events I'll be leaving tonight with my girl and be hanging out all day tomorrow and some of Sunday. So stoked, so stoked :!: :!: :!:

Your father is awesome -- Be thankful. You oughta get him a "#1 Dad" coffee mug as a token of your appreciation.

We actually went to the hospital this morning and he seems to be doing pretty well. My dad wants to hang around for the weekend just in case though.

I feel so lucky I get to go.
