I was thinking about picking it up today after work but decided not to. I think I'll order it online sometime soon, though.

The super deluxe set comes in a metal briefcase with photo cards, a little Spinner toy, and a goddamn unicorn figure:

I really should pull the trigger on that, it's rare that American DVD releases get such hardcore treatment, like that Japanese release of the Alien Quadrilogy with the giant head.

Since it is one of my favorite movies, I just picked up the briefcase version from Borders. Borders had a coupon for 40% off DVD box sets, so it only ended up costing me about $50.

I can't wait to get my Bladerunner 4-disc set ! I splurged for the holiday on a Samnsung LCD tv. The things i've rewatched so far are absolutely amazing, and i'm watching the movies on an Oppo upconvert dvd player ! I decided to wait until the Bluray-HD wars are over, besides I am not about to get rid of my dvd collection.
I watched Metropolis last nite, the anime - WOW, talk about resolution ! The colors were out of this world. If anyone is considering an upconvert player do your self a favor and go with an Oppo, you will have no regrets. :D

Batty: I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I appreciate the lack of voice over in the final cut.

i thought that the briefcase actually comes with the original TEST print that is supposed to be radically different than the other cuts...huge fan of this movie, so I'm so excited to see that...briefcase for me 100%

I read on AICN about a year ago when they released some special edition of blade runner in typical greedy manipulative movie studio fashion, and they said to skip that release and wait for this one that just came out...this newest release is really not a gimmick product is is 1000000000% legit. I can't wait to get mine.

Because I have not chosen sides yet in the great blu-ray vs. HD-DVD battles of the early 21st century, I decided to buy the 2-disc boring DVD edition of this new cut. Which reminds me, I have not even watched the bonus materials yet, gotta do that tonight.

But as far as the new cut goes, and quality of the sound/picture -- very good. Very good indeed.

Don't skimp. If you really love this movie go for the case.
I'm in love with it all over again.

While you are at it, make sure to get the Vangelis soundtrack CD as well.

It's amazing.
