Hi there, y'all. Just a quick introduction. I'm RJ, recently of Austin, TX but now living in the middle of nowhere (another story altogether). I've been a toy collector and movie buff for years, and have recently discovered the world of new kaiju. I haven't migrated from any other board, just doing some browsing on the subject of vinyl and this is where it landed me. A recent trip to my folks for the T-giving holiday turned up a box of Godzilla and Ultraman VHS tapes in the attic, as well as a few of my old, battered but well loved Bandai kaiju from when I was a tyke. I thought about how great it would be to start collecting kaiju again, and I discovered a whole new world of japanese vinyl that brought me right back to my days of growing up in the 80's (and earlier!). What can I say, I'm always late to the party! Once I get back from the X-mas holiday, I'll take some pics of the few new pieces I've purchased. I haven't been so stoked about collecting something since I was a kid. The quality of the new school of Jp toys is mind-blowing! See everyone after the holidays! Cheers! |

Read a lot before you post questions. Something I've learned before I started posting! Other than that, welcome! |

Yeah, it's awful. It's like the land that time forgot. Or the Land of the Lost even. Only without the Sleestaks. I could handle it if there were Sleestaks. |

The one and only time I went to San Angelo, I was probably 13 and had to go door shopping there. I just remember it being very odd how everything felt so old and forgotten. The poeple seemed like they were from another world all together. |

Quote: I just remember it being very odd how everything felt so old and forgotten. Yeah, no doubt. Apparently there was an oil boom here in the 60's-70's and it shows. All the buildings look straight out of that era. Like time stood still. There's a huge flea mkt. on the edge of town that I went to when I first moved here. Rows and rows of bins full of old toys. I'm hoping part of that old and forgotten might come in the form of some old and forgotten vinyl at the bottom of those bins. Other than that, I can't really think of any redeeming qualities of this place. I bought my house for dirt cheap. That's something. Inexpensive living. Not much else... |

Why are you living there? |

Quote: Why are you living there? A family member owns a really successful business here. They offered me a job and I figured it was a way to make some serious money. I can sure as hell tell you that I won't be spending the rest of my life here! But for now, I can deal. I try to take trips out of town frequently. I just try to keep thinking of all the toys the job can buy me. And about how many toys I'll be taking with me when I go. |
