General question..I don't own a console or play video games HOWEVER I need to buy one for a surprise bday. Anyway..I was wondering if when you buy a new game (NBA live 08) is there any difference between ps2 and ps3 versions? Or...is the only difference... that you can play online for the ps3? |

Definitely the graphics will be better on the PS3 version. How wide a margin it is depends on the particular game, my guess is this game probably looks quite a bit better on PS3. Are you buying the console AND the game? Or does someone already have a PS3? Because remember, PS3 will not play every PS2 game. Likewise, the PS3 includes a Blu-ray drive, not a bad deal considering the unit as a whole is about the same price as many stand-alone Blu-ray players. |

plus some of the new ps3's are not backward playing. That is how they made the cheaper version. But PS3 compaired to PS2 is WAY different. Graphix are smoother, dual core yo... |

I don't know why a smiley face showed up but the game is 2008 nba live... Anyway..Interesting and thanks. No my friend only has a ps2 but wants a game that just came out...(i know he's buying a ps3 later this year) but I want to get him a game that is for the ps2. Later when he buys the ps3...he'll be able to get the same game for the ps3 console. But I want to make sure it's pretty much the same thing. |

Just make sure that when he buys the PS3 he doesn't get the cheapest one they just released because it will not play ps2 games. I believe it is the 40gig version. Tell him to buy the 80gig. |
