i thought the movie fucking blowed, but this is all i could find from wiki:

'Death Proof was released on DVD in the United States on September 18, 2007 in a two-disc special edition featuring the extended version of the film, documentaries on the casting of the film, the various muscle cars and Tarantino's relationship with editor Sally Menke, trailers, and an international poster gallery.'

They added the "Missing" reel. So the lap dance scene was added.

im a huge tarantino fan, and it was hard to admit to myself that the movie prettymuch sucked. it had its moments, but i felt like the whole first half was disposable, shoulda got right to the action or tied it in better. maybe a 2nd viewing will change my mind but... i enjoyed planet terror more when i saw grindhouse in theaters.

I just liked Grindhouse. I loved the two movies and the trailers as one big movie event. It's a shame about these individual dvd releases.

only the trailer for Machete was released on the Planet Terror disc - none of the other trailers were released on the Death Proof disc which sucks.

Totally, anyone know why? I was guessing they didn't wanna pay the other directors. Here's one that should of been included for kicks, IMO:

it pissed me off that not all of the previews were added to the dvds.
that was a major let down.

I love how everyone says something sucked or whatever but most of the time they provide no explanation as to why it sucked.

The first 1/2 of Death Proof (of which had the most cut [i.e. not in the movie theatre grindhouse experience]) sets up the 2nd 1/2 of the movie perfectly. I could see how you could argue that the first 1/2 is a bit tedious but it moves along pretty quick and since they have, at least initially, released each film on it's own it is nice to have the unreleased footage - remember: in the theatrical release they had to compress the two movies...it's hard enough getting people to sit in the theatre for 2+ hrs...I think Grindhouse was like 3..

On the Planet Terror audio commentary Robert Rodriguez mentions something about another release so I imagine we'll probably see the theatrical grindhouse version sometime later.

theres supposed to be a double disc edition... idk when or if it will ever really be produced but its seriously a shame that the previews werent included, and i dont think either movie should have been released individually, maybe packaged individually and sold as a set, but to have them stand alone kinda bummed me out.

anyone hear that theyr gonna make a feature film of werewolf women of the ss? i saw an article in some horror mag but didnt have a chance to read it. looks like alot of well known names in it tho. also i heard theyr gonna do or they want to do a feature of machete

I can totally see why people do not like the flim. I loved death proof in the theatre though and look forward to seeing in at home. but I'm also a fan of tarantino. The dialogue and film reeks of his style. Although I also like Robert rodriguez and rose mcgowen, I yawned through most of planet terror.

I have a theory that Tarantino is so into grindhouse movies, that he took his film to the next level. Tarantino realizes that the B movie almost always sucked...and consequently, he deliberately made a 'crappy movie' to show after Planet Terror. Its a complete travesty that the American public was too dense to 'get it' and i'm so bummed that these were released separately. I heard that in areas of the midwest, an instruction manual was handed out to audience members to 'explain' why there were old trailers, grainy texture, and jumpy film.

Anyone who didn't like this, doesn't know their drive-in double feature trashy movie history.

and that's sad.

That would be awesome!
I was surprised that I liked Death Proof a lot more than Planet Terror - I thought it woulda been the other way around. PT really kinda bored me. But DP was awesome! As someone else mentioned, the first half set the second half up really well. It gained so much momentum, it was kinda like trying to push start a cement truck.
